lotsa cool stuff and great prices

I have to strongly suggest you stay away from Maxxima LED's. They have a VERY high failure rate- trust me, I know. You get what you pay for when it comes to LED lighting. The Maxxima units have a tendency to have lousy seals, causing leaks which corrode the boards and fail the LED's. I got tired of replacing them and now have Grote. Not one problem now at all.

Thanks for the info, ole buddy. I bought the five Maxxus lights from you early this year!

] So who has Grote lights? What should one look for in an LED light? I understand that you usually get what you pay for, but I can't afford to pay 20-some bucks for one marker light.

I have had the Maxximas on the back of my jeep for a year and a half with no problems. and they have been submerged, covered with mud and pressure washed numerous times.

Guess I just got a good set...

Oooooooooops   ;) - Sorry Ron, I didn't have the problems until after I sold that set to you. Prior to selling them to you, I thought our problems (all on trailers and ladder racks on pickups) were because of bad installations- Honest... I aplogise if there is any hard feelings or misunderstandings and would not have knowingly sent you bad info or lights. Hell, I used to reccommend Maxxima LED lighting when the subject came up here.

And in all fairness, the Cab lights (like the ones I sold you) weren't the problem. The problem was with thinline types- Model 19, Model 15, as well as some of the 4" STT lamps. They all were failing at an alarming rate. One or two LED's wouldn't light, or they would corode the ground connections and the whole thing would be dim or not light at all. I still have a few left that need replacing. Hell, if anyone wants to try it, I think I still have a few brand new ones from Maxxima sent to me as replacements.

Yes they are cheap, but I found that if you shop around, you can get the Grote (which is cheaper than Trucklite) or Trucklite for about the same or a little more. Maxxima has a HUGE selection of lights though, and niether Trucklite or Grote can match their complete line.

That being said, Grote can be found damn near everywhere OTR truck parts are sold. I highly suggest trying Fleetpride, if you have one available. I was able to get the model 19 replacements (dually fenders and rear) for $7ish a piece. The maxximaz are the same. I also replaced all of the 4"STT lights for around $18 to $20 a piece. Not too bad at all IMO.

If anyone has troublegetting them, let me know and I can get my local Fleetpride Sales Manager to get it set up to ship anywhere.

Hopefully this clears up a few things!!

Agree that the Grotes are good. I have had marker and SST on my flatbed for 73K about 30 months and zero problems. Grote, Trucklite and Peterson all make quality products and all would probably serve you well. I think Grote is usually a little less $$$.

Available at any big truck parts house.

Well I just ordered some LEDs from Mill Supply in Cleveland. They have a good deal on the Truck Lite markers. This is a pretty good company and I've been there before to buy replacement cab corners for a Ford truck. You can buy all kinds of replacement body parts from them. The cab corner was a great fit and relatively easy weld-in installation.
