I am seeing some LED lightbulbs available for home use. Any one know how they compare efficiency wise to the CF bulbs? I know they are way more expensive.

way more efficient than cf , i like them a lot, good color temp a rough comparison on light output is a 55 watt incandescent , 13 watt cf and 5 watt led. i changed all of my bulbs in my 5th wheel and my truck to led except for the headlights and fog lights i changed to hid , it cost about $1,500 brighter lights and can dry dock for ever . i thought i would try to do the same to the house, bought about $300 worth to experiment with it looks like it would take about $9,000 to convert i will wait until the price drops and convert a few at a time starting with the most used. also on the trailer i had a 10% failure rate during the first 40 hours of operation then no more failures. half of the led,s came from superbright led's and had 2 failures and they replaced fast and courteous the led's we got from leds, com had 16 failures some out of the box and they still have not responded i will give them another month and send a complaint to better business bureau.

I just looked up several websites that sell leds for houses and the equivalent for a 60 watt bulb is 30 bucks. It runs on approx. 3w as opposed to a cf bulb which uses 13w. On rough calculation, payback would take 4 or 5 years. I would like to switch my house over to leds at some point. I started to use cf bulbs a while ago, but I only recently found out about them having mecury inside of them. So I suppose I won't be buying any more of them.

I have a box (qty 25) of 1. 3w 120v lights (approx 15-25watt incandescent equivalent)that use the regular screw in socket. they cost me $5 each. I use a few of them for night lights. Kind of a blue tint and the dim well.

I still have 22 left sitting in my garage. I go too much junk.

CKelly have you heard from leds.com yet as to the bulb failures? What is the expected life span of the led bulbs? I have used the cf for several years and they do not last as long as advertised.
