As a trucker who drives around in a Pete (coincidentally the same color as Ram) dripping with lights, I have this weird desire to do the same to the Ram. I have the diamond plate running boards and would like input as to placement and suggestions as to where to splice into power and vendors. Thanks all!

Well you like the lights do you? I am kind of partial to them myself, and with LED's being the newest rage why not (y-knot). I have changed all the exterior lamps to LED, and with good results. As soon as my truck gets back from the body shop, and I install the Buckstop bumper again, I am planning on adding some round LED lights to the sides of the bumper. I have enjoyed buying from www.autolumination.com and www.led-r-us.com .

Both are good companies to deal with and have very fair prices. Good luck

nmanduke- since you like led lights, I have to tell you what I did to my 02 CDT. I used led boarder tubes used on sign applications under the truck facing down like under car neon, but alot brighter and use nekt to nothing for power. They run on 12 volt and I mounted them so you can't see them looking at the truck but at night they light up the entire area under the truck!I used amber on the sides and front and red in back but you can get alot of colors. They look real cool and deffinetly turn heads. I always try to put stuff on my truck that no one else has, to make them say hhmmm!

Well thank you for the concern. I am well, there was no wreck or any damage, just time to freshen up the exterior with some new paint and a little attitude.

I love lights also, after I get my dually freshened up, I will be adding LEDs on mine. They make a replacement light for the dually fenders and tailgate lights. The ambers have 12 diodes and the reds have 10 diodes. Also going to add 2" LEDs all over the front of my full replacement front bumper. They also make LED's that are JUST like the dually fender lights, but half as tall, so the ambers have 6 diodes and the reds have 5 doides, and I will run them down under the cab & bed. Also going to run more cab lights across the top of the cab (probably 10-11 in all) and put LED bulbs in them. I am also debating whether I should get a headache rack or stacks, but if I get a headache rack, guess what. ?. ?. ?. ?... . LED's BABY! An when more money permits me to get a rear replacment bumper... ..... you know what. ;)

Looks like we have another "Light" junkie. I like the look of the new LED's myself. I have replaced the dually marker lights with the 12 led units and every exterior light as well. I got bored/im-patient and went on and put the LED's in the Buckstop bumper. They look cool, I used a 2-1/2" amber in the front on each side and a 2" amber on each end plate,, they will work as turning signals. I'll get the rear bumper when the truck gets back.

Anybody seen any kind of led that could be used as a replacement for the cab lights? I had thought about the clear lights for the GM but then you have all the lights on the bed and you can't get them clear. I would like something that didn't stick up as high and had maybe 2-3 LEDs each.

Yeah on top of the cab. I actually like (forgive me) the F350 lights in the dually fenders for the top of the cab. They are about 1. 5" in diameter but You would have to figure out a way to seal them.

I bet that looks awesome, you got any pics of the truck with them on late in the evening?

Not LED's yet, but...........

Here is how I did the running boards and bed, same size lights on front under bumper. Hope to go to LED's soon. Have also added stainless trim rings on the sides, like under the bumper, just don't have a new pic.

Looks good. I bet the stainless rings that cover up the rubber gromets make it look really good.

I replaced my roof light lamps with 5 or 6 LED lamps, I don't remember. I wanted to replace the lenses with the clear ones, but no one makes them for the Dodge. When I get the truck back, I am going to see if I can polish out the stock lenses, they have become a little dingy. If not, I 'll get some replacements.

Also I will get a picture posted of all the different lights I installed. I like lights, but maybe not as much as some that I have seen. They do look pretty at night, and I love to pull my trailer at night also, the two look good.

I saw my truck today, it is all painted except for the tail gate and hood. The hood came in today, but it was damaged and I had to send it back. Should get another one next week.

Lights Smoke The Head Switch?

I also like the addition of lights. I ran extras down the nerf bar, but unfortunately keep replacing because of corrosion.

Are these LED lights sealed (waterproof)?

Also, with addition of lights, and add the 36' 5'er, It doesn't take long to smoke the headlight switch.

Anyone got any ideas for running extra lights through some type of relay instead of headlight switch? They get expensive $30. 00 every time.

If you are concerned about the draw (A) on the headlight switch, you can very easily take a fused 20A circuit from the battery and run it to a relay. Have the relay energized by the parking lights and hook all you extra lights to the normally open side of the relay, now there is no extra load.

Also, the nice thing about LED's is they draw near to nothing. I could have 20 LED clearance lights and they would draw less then one normal clearance light.

This is a 12 LED side marker light for a dually

By replacing the 7 red and yellow lights on the dually bed, you can reduce the load in the head light switch by about 3-4 Amps

Go and replace the roof marker lights with 5-LED lamps and knock off another 2-3 Amps.
