So it is late and I am bored so I thought I would start a thread on what everyone has done on their trucks with LED's? Here are a few on mine...

well thats a good question....

I have done all of it myself,

The tailgate LED bar is custom made and I built a custom controller for it, it has 3 strobe modes, Stop, Turn, Tail modes.

The upper Grille are also semi custom and are controlled my controller as well and do the turn signals as well as the strobes.

The lower lamps in the bumpers are off of e-bay they are wired up as Daytime Running lights but also have a mode switch wired up and have internal strobe flasher built in.

The mud flaps I spent an evening and got a little nuts with a knife and LED's and they turned out better than I thought they would...

Are you asking about the Tailgate LED Bar?

If so yes it is here are some more pictures so you can see the individual LED Segments also included a close up of the corner LED's in the Backup Lamps...

Very nice! I'm hooked!

May I ask where you purchased those neat items, and do the corner LEDs plug into the standard sockets? I read your post above: did that include the backup lights?

Thanks,

O.

Nope Nope and Nope, Just Kidding!

The corner LED's are each independant and are wired into my Controller, they are lit with each section of the Center Bar and the front LED's So when you Turn Left, the left corner, Left Side of the Center bar and the Drivers side of the front grille lamps all light together and same for the right side. I have been thinking about producing the light controller but not much interest in it; it is fully programable so you can actually make your own flash patterns if you wanted to, it also has adjustable intensity for the tail light circuit. I am going to upgrade the processor however as I would like to make some more complicated flash patterns as I am out of memory on the chip. I also would like to take the controller another step and make each lamp independent so that I can make the side marker lamps part of the strobes without making them turn signals as well, just another project... . I have been running this combo since I bought the truck a year ago and have been really impressed how well it has worked. I even got a compliment from a CHP officer when I stopped to help a stranded motorist that was in an accident. As far as buying them PM me and I can set you up as they are all from different places and some you cannot just buy off the shelf.

Big Bob got a ?

Are the bulbs in the lic plate holder LED they look like white LED but not sure, if so are you happy with the illumination? What pattern did you use and which manufacture?

Thanks for the info. A few years ago I ordered sealed LED side marker lights through CarQuest that were and exact replacement for those on my 1995 Cummins. The old incandescent bulbs constantly failed but the LEDs are, I'm sure, still running on the mighty dually wherever she is today. They also produce a particular interference pattern with the retina that is, pardon the expression, eye-catching.

I can buy LEDs as parts; I had just wondered if any of what you had was off-the-shelf. A very nice bit of work. Best regards,

O.

Ah yes. I came here in 2000 from Petoskey Michigan (project there. ) When Mainers ask me why I moved I say, "I got sick of the cold weather!"

Unfortunately Loring has been turned into a mini- industrial park. I love the winter here. It keeps people away that merely exist rather than live. Where you there for the UFO sightings? :)

Let's see, 1972-1976: major events; started dating the young lovely that I would later trick into becoming my wife, school at NCSU (didn't win the draft lottery) and drove a '67 Peugot 404 my Dad gave me.

As a matter of fact, yes I was. I have read that some Helo's were brought in and I remember those. What I do not read about was the squadron of F-106 Delta Wings that arrived and were still there when I left. The UFO's must have been a little faster than a Helo could go. The 70 below chill factor with the wind blowing on the flightline and seeing only the tops of the power poles on the way to work (after the plows got done) are etched in my mind. I visited there in 2k. Brought tears to my eye's knowing how it was when I left and what it has sunk to now. Beautiful state your in.
