guys what do you think about adding these on the end of your tow mirrors,( similar to the new furd 6. 0l has) and attatching them to your turn signal. they flush mount and can be seen 180 degrees. they are also mad in amber. they have an oem type look to them and no cheezy crome. they make them in 4" and 6" i think 4" would be the way to go. what do you guys think? amber or red/4 or 6/hook up to turn signal or no/forget it, it will look cheezy. tell me what you think.

Are you thinking the top or side ? Because the top is what is to the outside when in trailering position. Might look a little funny when folded down

I don't like the way LED's flash on and off. An incandescent bulb lights up and fades out as the element heats and cools. Kinda relaxing. An LED is sharp on or off. Kinda irritating to watch in my ever so humble opinion. But that don't mean they aren't cool. Just not my bag. ;)

They're probably too high mounted on the tow mirrors for most car jockeys to notice. I'd put an amber unit on the door itself, next to the RAM 2500/3500 lettering. That would make a good intermediate turn signal (between the front and rear corners) - same principle as those used on buses and semi-trailers.

The picture you posted is the surface mount model and would look tacky with the exposed screws/fasterners. They do have a surface/grommet mount that might look good. I would mount them in the top outside corner, aligning them horizontaly when mirrors are down (normal). It would be a fun project I think. I would attempt to add some white lights on the bottom of the mirror at the same time for illuminating the door and ground when a door opens, like my wife's explorer.

The only concern for me would be making sure it was a water tight fit so you don't get moisture in the electronics and having the lights look good enough that it looks oem.

I have thought about it. I am worried about the lights being too bright at night. The left one is awful close to your eyes.

The one you have posted is WAY too big to do what you talk about. We have a good number of these 6" x 2" on utility trailers for our business. They would not look good surface mounted to a mirror and yes Tom- they are indeed brite.

What you need to do is find some Rice rocket size LED's- like what is OEM on the Volkswagon Jetta. Small and recessed.

Just my . 05. :p
