Here I am

left hand turn signal at trailer plug

Thanks, TDR Staff

Adding a dimmer for one side of my outside outlet.

2013 GN hitch availibility

I went out to pull my 5th wheel and when I hooked up the trailer I have no power to the left hand turn and stop light on trailer.

the wires to the back of the plug are dead and the fuses are all good. after more searching I find that the the relay in the integrated power mondule is burned out. seems this is a weak point in the system.

the intergrated power mondula need to be replace at 400. 00+.

my question is there a way to bypass and wire direct to the trailer plug with out doing any other damage to the system.

thanks for any help I can get.

The 2004 doesn't have a TIPM (totally integrated power module). As above, there are fuses in the box next to the driver's side battery.

If the fuse isn't blown, the printed circuit ribbon may have burned. For further information, see TDR Issue 78, page 120.

If the fuse is blown, replace it with a fuse with a 10-amp or lower rating which could save you $$$ in the future.

I had the same thing happen to my 2004, tried the fuses and they were good, had the dealer diagnose the TIPM relays as defective. After much research into the circuit board mounted relay systems, I elected to replace the circuits with an external turn signal type system. I got it at NAPA, can't remember the part #, but it has to wire into the existing turn signals. It has a separate power feed and only uses the turn signal indicators as sensors to indicate when the turn/stop signals are illuminated. So far, with about 1 1/2 years on it as a full-time RVer, it hasn't malfunctioned. I figured replacing the stock board would only serve to give me the same problem in the future. It was also only about $60-70, rather than $300 for the TIPM.

thanks for all the reply's. on the o4 it is a pdc where they hide all the fuses. the fuse for the left hand turn signal was changed some time ago ,thanks for the info. I checked the relays and you can here both left and right working so the next step
is to check further up the wiring harness to see if there is a break further up in both brake and turn signal lines. napa may be my next call if the search fails to find broken wires. could be worse at least I am under the truck getting baked by the vegas sun versus fried on top of the truck.
any other thought and advise would be appreciated
