My left tail lights went out yesterday, after picking up my new trailer! Changed the bulbs, checked the fuses, and all is good. Have no tail lights, but have turn and brake! TIA, Scott

Check your fuses. Seems like I remember left and right have different fuses. Also, I had a couple of breaks in my wiring on my 03 without any apparent cause. Just had to track down where I still had power and splice in new wire.

got turn & brake lights working, just no tail lights on the left side. Going to take it to a buddies shop on Monday for a look.

the bulb holder could also be bad. try swappeing the holders side to side and see if the problem moves. if it does then the holder is bad if not then you have a wiring problem.

If the earlier 3rd gen trucks use the same trailer wiring through the TIPM like the '06+ trucks this is a logical place to start considering your problem didn't arise until hooking up your new trailer. When the TIPM failed on my '06 I would only get 3v to the right brake/turn on the trailer circuit, however lights on the truck all still worked fine.

Have you checked the voltage on the trailer circuit on your truck to see if the problem is present there as well?

the pre-'06 trucks are different in the fact that the trailer harness is fused outside the TIPM unlike the '06+ trucks that are "fused" by the TIPM.
