2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Length of rearend 3500-2500

Is the total length of the rearend from drum to drum the same on a 2500 single wheel as a 3500 dual wheel?? I know this sounds odd, though I'm having my dually shortened and making it a single wheel shortbed. . Thanks. .

here is what i found ...



my '01 srw drum braked dana 70 was 2 inches wider than a cab and chassis dana 80 from a '96, and 2 inches narrower than an 80 out of a truck with a bed ...



forget the actual measurements but those are what i found when i had all three laying together on the garage floor

sorry OTRPU, i bought my 80 from a guy here in the classifieds ...



north of pittsburg on I-79, he had NEW 80s of both sizes, still had the big steel shipping container ... saw him selling them and my 70 on E-Bay about a month ago ...
