I love my first gen

torquing turbo together, brass fitting for boost?

is it possible to have less boost with an i/c versus no i/c? just put an i/c in and boost builds slower. i have checked and have no leaks. i assume it is because the turbo has to pressurize the larger tubes and cooler which holds a large volume of air instead of a short pipe from turbo to engine?

i am probably seeing the same volume of air just takes less pressure with a better intake system.

am i way off?

There is a pressure drop over the intercooler of a few psi.

As pepecat says if you are still running the "baby" H1C you need to upgrade to a real H1C (from an intercooled truck) as a minimum.

The "baby" has a 3 inch inlet and a 2 inch outlet and a 50 mm compresser wheel. The

larger H1C will have a 4 inch inlet and 2 1/2 inch outlet and a 54 or 56 mm compressor wheel.

That will fill the intercooler faster and should reduce the lag.

Of course you can also skip one step and go with a stage 2,3,or4 upgrade from HTT or wherever. Or get an HX35. You're going to do that eventually anyway. ;)

There is a 52mm inducer wheel you can put on the "baby H1C" with no mods, bolt in upgrade. Otherwise you need to replace the compressor housing with the 54,56,58 or 60mm inducer wheels. For around $175 you can get the 60mm and compressor housing.

i have a hx35 coming in the mail, just needed to drive the truck in the meantime. also turbo sounds louder with i/c installed?

Usually a 3 psi drop is normal. You should have less smoke... ... at least in the summer. Is the power the same?

i haven't really gotten on it yet, boost seems slow to build and i dont want to blow off the rigged up tube i made to connect the turbo to the i/c. i needed to drive the truck today. i got it up to 25psi at half throttle with the tc locked but it just sounds wierd, like a loud fluttering whistle. i plugged off the tube from the turbo and pressurized it with a blow gun and didnt see any leaks. could the sound just be coming from the couplers? they are stock from a 24 valve.

dont want to blow off the rigged up tube

Come on... go for it. Mine blew off the first time I made a bonzai test run... Dog was in the truck with me... . he didn't like it!:-laf

got it up to 35 psi then BLAM!!! tube blew off and stacks smoked like a freight train, i just got the turbo today a hx35w cant tell which housing it has. on the outside of the exh housing there is 16 cast into it, on the inside of the runner where it bolts up to the exh manifold there is a #12? what gives?
