the sign is on Hwy 108 heading west from Hwy 395

just above Kennedy meadows where Damon is posting about is the grade it is talking about... . that is why I asked him if he went over the top...

Actually the sign is on the flats on the east side of the mountain and is referring to the grade above Kennedy Meadows heading west... on the east grade after the summit going east it's "only" a 16% grade

on edit. . if your not familar with the area it is in the Sierra's about 1. 5 hrs north of Hwy 120 the one that goes east/west through Yosemite

I live north of Twain Harte on a mountain top over looking TH canyon at the 4k elevation, which is about 40 min. west from Kennedy Meadows. [that area is also where I took Ol#1 my first CTD truck for a ride over the edge]

No I did not go over the top, and I surely did not see that 26% grade sign . At 50' hitched up there's no way I would continue past that warning.

We went through Kennedy and stayed in the open camping area at Troy Meadow. This is a really beautiful place for those who have not been there. For the dirt bike crowd it has the best forested single track I have ever ridden, and for the flyfishing crowd the South Fork Kern is accessible from many angles.

Where the heck is that hwy 108 you are speaking of, I looked on a map and could not find it anywhere ?

Edit - now I know why I never saw that sign. This is the "other" Kennedy Meadows in the Sierra's, on the very south end just north of Lake Isabella. 9 mile canyon road is on the 395 just north of Pearsonville. I know, kind of confusing having 2 Kennedy Meadows in the same mountain range
