Ok guys, I've got a buddy with a 99 powerjoke auto dually who wants to race. I'm running a 98 24V with an EZ and K&N (all specs in sig. ). I figure I've got a good chance how I am but what else do I need to smoke this guy? Injectors? Bigger Banjo Bolts? I don't want to spend over $500.



Also, how do you recommend I set up the race? I told him we'd do it with loads on.



Gotta keep up the cummins pride so let me know...

AZ, it should be a real good race just as you sit, does the PSD have a chip in it or any other mods? If it does have a chip and exhuast it can get really expensive to beat them. If he is stock rum him with just your EZ, otherwise get out the credit card.

Bob... DDII's listed out @ $900. That was injectors + Boost Module. Can I just do DDI plus my EZ and make it count?

Mark, your EZ is the boost module. If he's stock, I think the EZ should be more than enough. If your clutch is anything like the ones on the ETH, it won't like the bigger injectors for long. You probably know this, just trying to save you $$$$.



The idea of a load pulling test is a good one. If you have access to a trailer, why not hook up and time your runs to the top of a grade with the same trailer/weight ? If you want to flat out race, go to a dragstrip, it's just not worth putting everyone else at risk on the open road.



Check those prices on the injectors, there is probably a core charge for your injectors added to the price that is refundable.

Since the Ford has an auto, you better shift gears real fast. When I was at 280HP I could not win a drag race with our 97 powerstroke until after the top of 4th and into 5th gear. I would catch him but he killed me out of the hole bad.



IF the Ford is chipped, he could give you tough time.

bottom line, unless you add quite a bit more power, he will probably get ya in the empty race. but put a load , the heavier the better, and you will rip him a new one. get about 10000 pounds of trailer behing ya, and that powerjoke auto will be nothing compared to you with a 5 speed. just my . 02 from towing against powerjokes.

I would think some 275 injectors with the ez should take care of it... Or DD1's or 2's. The idea of pulling a load is a good one.

10,000# eh? Hmm... with all my aggie friends, I should be able to round up enough tractors or heifers to pull that off...



the powerjoke won't be chipped as it is his mother's truck. And if we are going to drag, I'll for sure be on a drap strip. Streets aren't for racing, period.



I figure he'll be a little ahead but once I hit 4th gear, I'll leave him far behind.



BTW... I take it I should turn my EZ all the way up? It is on the middle setting right now. Thanks for all the help. The race won't be till the summer but I'll keep you updated.
