33x12. 5 is the practical limit. I"m running a floatation size 33x12. 5 on a 8" rim and 4. 5" offset, they fit nice - a little fender flare would be nice. I rub the mud flap a little bit at full turn and more so with some compression in the suspension when off road.

With a 2" leveling spring, and drop the bump stop, you can get 35x12. 5 on there; increase the offset and you can get 35x15 on there.

Vaughn,

Alphacowboy,

Take a closer look, those are not steel rims, they are the factory 3rd Gen Alloys powdercoated black. Steel rims are horrible. You look at my truck and you think it looks like shiat and I look at your truck and think it looks like shiat with the shiny aluminums. It's just a personal preference. Give me a brand new expensive wheel with a blingin' aluminum finish and I'll take it straight to the powerdercoater for some gloss black or gun metal grey.

By the way, for anyone who's thinking about powdercoating if black is too much for you the gun metal grey looks insane on any color truck with 3rd gen wheels (without the center caps of course).

Oh, I know yours were powder coated wheels. I personally just dont like dark colored wheels. I dont really care that much for chrome either though. Personally the grey powder coat on most of Dodges wheels I like the most. Not to bling bling, but not so blah in my mind. With the tires already being black, it is just too much forme with it all black. Its all personally preference.

PS, where do you get those hummer take offs! PM me if you can get me a pair for that price! My 33's just look to small to me!

I like ALPHACOWBOY last pic that is what i'm looking for nice tires

I like a tire with some bite to it

you know with some balls

thanks

Vaughn,

I've been running black rims for years on all my trucks. I guess I picked it up from my motocross bikes which also have always had black rims. Through the 80's & 90's it was very rare to see black rims on the street but I guess they are catching on now because I'm starting to see a lot more lately.

Sounds like you were ahead of the trend DBD :)

Your wheels & tires look good on your rig BTW

Heres all the pics in my readers rigs

During the winter time, I use the Stock 16" rims and right now, I have the stock michelin tires..... Since I don't tow in the winter, I want to get more of an off-road tire. I might get something like a 285 BFG MT for that use...

thats awesome... thats a duplicate of my truck... . do they rub any?

Was that question for me? No they don't rub, although if you had the wheel turned exactly in the right spot and then hit a nice sized bump they would. I haven't had them rub yet. I put a 2" level kit on but you really only gain looks with that. The truck had 33/12. 50s on 16. 5/9. 75s when I got it with no lift and they also did not rub. If I had a choice I would have gotten the 8" wide rims, but I got mine from a guy who bought them and then decided not to use them so I got a deal. The 10s look nice but they do stick out quite a ways, and I don't believe they offer any other back space.

i have a set of 16x10 eagle alloys, but im starting to change my mind on the 10's and go with a 8 instead... i love the 20 look, it looks like 22. 5's. trying to go with the big rig look, without the added height. . ive got a 2" level on it now... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... cant decide. .

how tall are the tires?

I just can't get use to the 20"... and over. Even 18"s are starting to get too tall for me. But it's realy, for me based on the sidewall left over. I know technically and in reality the bigger rims are much better for towing and cornering.

I know 44 on a 15" is just nutz too, so don't get me wrong. For the street too much sidewall is no good either.

But going off road I'd be wrecking soo many rims and be soo stuck if I went for what I've seen on soo many blinged SUV/cars around here..... no side walls to marshmellow out for floatition.

The max ratio that works for me, look wise and max for offroad, is max about 50/50.

I can see 18" on min 36-38" tall tires (rather 38). Atleast with the trucks showing above (all sharp loooking trucks) your still more than streetable in real life and the handling must be great. The ones that bug me are the ones that have cars and SUVs running 1 - 2" of sidewall. These numbnutz have to brake in the middle of the belt parkway when they come to rough spots as not to bust up a rim, they cause accidents from people trying to avoid them as they go from 60 to 25 to tip toe accross the bad sections of road... burns me up. Just not streetable.

My 19,5's are not too tall ... . the 245/ 70 R 19. 5" is about 33" so that is like a 285/ 75-16 tire... .

I agree on the low pro tires the Ricers use. Yes they have less roll for cornering but also on the highway, I see them all the time on the side with a flat. They are not made for long, sustained high speed on the freeway...
