i have a set of 16x10 eagle alloys, but im starting to change my mind on the 10's and go with a 8 instead... i love the 20 look, it looks like 22. 5's. trying to go with the big rig look, without the added height. . ive got a 2" level on it now... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... cant decide. .

how tall are the tires?

They come in right around 33" tall, but they are not as wide as the 305s a lot of people are running. Mine look real fat on the 10" rim. There is plenty of side wall left for a fair ride, in fact I've had 16. 5" mudders that rode/drove worse. Also the Coopers have a thick little rubber "bead" molded into the tire around the rims lip to protect it. Helps a lot when running wide rims like I am even though I don't really off road it. Load rating is 2950 which works fine for me. I had 22. 5s on my 98 QC dually and I LOVED the look but man it rode like crap. And cost about 4 times as much. :{

The 10s look nice but they do stick out quite a ways, and I don't believe they offer any other back space.

Your wheels & tires look great MrDiesel. Centerline does have 20x8. 5" rims that won't stick out far, backspace 5. 625" which is much closer to stock than most wheels. More info https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153899

Are you sure your tires are 275/60/20 instead of 275/55/20? Cooper's site doesn't show anything available over 17" in the ST

EDIT: Found the tires, Discoverer ST 275/60/20, I was looking in the wrong section :)

I know there are others out there I was just refering to the backspace on the Eagles. Like I stated I got a great deal on them that's why I run 'em. Even going to the 8. 5" wide rim I think I would be fine with same the back space, that alone would keep them in an extra 1. 5". Would also help keep the crud off the side of the truck...

My 19,5's are not too tall ... . the 245/ 70 R 19. 5" is about 33" so that is like a 285/ 75-16 tire... .

I agree on the low pro tires the Ricers use. Yes they have less roll for cornering but also on the highway, I see them all the time on the side with a flat. They are not made for long, sustained high speed on the freeway...

wow, you must have been horribly misinformed. generaly a short sidewall tire is specifically designed for sport use, meaning long high speed runs. the fad was to use super low tires which people are now shynig away from and going back to some sidewall. I run 245-40-18's on the rear of my car. No problems there.

and I will probably moivng up in rim size on the truck because it handles horribly compared to what Im used to. you wouldent beleive the difference

35s on 17 x 10 inch rims, will these rub anywhere? I have a D25 coils and DT control arms, the ones that push the axle forward an inch or 2.

They'll probably rub on the lower link arm full lock when turning, or if you have factory mud flaps.

Is your front bumper stock?

Chances are good that they will hit somewhere on the inner fender well on a good deflection/articulation. The only way to stop them is to drop you axle bumper down the 2" you gained from the D25 coils.

I have 16 x 8's . I have had the PJ with huge side lugs. The tire was a pretty good size 33x12 x 16. The lugs rubbed a little on my mudflaps. And things are real close on articulation.

I now have the Toyo MudCountries, and they just miss where the PJ's rub.

I have stock snow plow springs in the front. I have a cap on the back, with the rear towing springs and stock helper springs. With the tool box I have in the back I sit just about level.

I've had others tell me they except my link arms to be level, but they aren't, they pitch down a bit, the font mounts at the axle are lower then the mounts on the frame. Meaning , I have a tade bit more room upfront than most. Seems I haven't settled too much, and with the weight in the rear, I think it pulls my nose up a bit.

Now a tad more sensible than the 54's on the Trail Duster, gotta love the torched out fenderwells though.

Here is a shot not seen by many as it was taken by TDR member B Kirk at the Butler Pentastars Mopars In The Park show. Its a shot of his sweet 94 rollin on Pro-Comp Extreme A/T's in 38. 5's on Ultra En4cers Wheels and my 98 Sport with 285/75R16 Cooper Discoverer STT'son Eagle Alloys 137 Series. I have 30k on them and love them and they are wearing very even... ... ..... Andy

Thanks BK, I guess I wait and maybe try a 16 x 8 rim with 315s, I made my own mud flap mounts and I think I would have to mod them if I went any bigger then my 33s. I do have a Buckstop bumper but I think my front end only went down a tad since installing it in January.

Michelin XPS Rib 235/85/16, LR E on my Arctic Fox 5th wheel.

Wow, old thread coming back. OK, well, just as an update, I ended up with Moto Metal 950's (20x10) with Nitto Terra Grappler 325/60/20's. Also put in the Kore 2" leveling kit and had to go with 1-1/4" longer than stock front control arms to get as much clearance as possible. Still rubs just a little if I hit a bump at full lock.

Thanks for the input.

DRAMATICALLY changed the look of the truck.

I stripped the clear coat off the 02' alloys and polished them. Now I am running a set of 06' alloys with Cooper STTs. Some day I will strip them and polish em up to look even better.

If you do any extreme towing you'll want to make sure the wheels you buy are forged and not cast aluminum. Most of the wheel on the market are cast. Weld and a few other companies make forged wheels but not many. I broke one of my Eagle Alloy 102 wheels from putting too much stress on it. A nice set of forged wheels is usually $2000 or more.

You may need to drop another $2000 on a gear change out if you up size the tires any more. Bigger tires are hard on drive train (brakes, trans, u-joints, wheel bearings, ect). Your towing capacity will get watered down by bigger tires if you don't compensate by changing the gear ratio.

You may want to add a leveling kit to the front of the truck so the tires don't look like there over whelming the wheel wells. The leveling kit on my truck really helped make the front end look aggressive and provide great tire clearance. I have Firestone Air Bags on the back that help with towing (4000 lbs in the bed is no problem) and add another few inches of lift.
