The thing I said on low pro tires is there is no cushion on bumps and pot holes. . thats what I see on the side of the road changing flat tires. If the low pro tires are over 50 or 60 series, it does better... the 25 series gets flats on the freeways that are less than perfect.

I see you allready bought some, and your truck looks great. I'll still share. Whats up with that white 1/2 ton short box? Are you kidding me?

I went back to stock rims after adding aftermarket rims and am very happy with them. IMO the stock wheels are hard to beat. . Simple 285/75r16 BFG A/T's. Triple sidewalls, good street manners, so-so off road manners.

Very nice, clean truck Scott. Is that really a 95? I didn't think those mirrors were available until 98. 5 ish... ? 287k and not even a chip in the paint inside the fender well! Is this a test truck for Dodge that's life has been spent on a dyno? Does someone need to say monkey?

There's plenty of chips and scratches, dents and dings. ;) They just don't show up on little internet pics. I replaced the mirrors and emblems, got a new fender, and some fresh paint when I did this January '06:

That left front corner does look good now doesn't it? Maybe I'll get the whole thing painted some day... .

I guess you're talking fuel mileage?

Before the new tires I was getting an average of 21. 5. Best I've seen is 25. 5. Worst was 13. 5 towing a pretty big enclosed trailer weighing @ 8K lbs. I'll post my new mileage after a couple of tanks.

Merry Christmas!

Well I guess its time to reopen this one now that I have four new wheels sitting in my garage. I was cruising through tirerack.com and found some 17x9 Dick Cepek DC-1 Chromed for $99 per. It was too good to pass up. I ordered them. They have a -12mm offset and 4. 5 inch backspace. The experts at tire rack tell me the factory offset is +12mm and that the change in offset is due to the additional width of the wheel from stock. I thought I had 16x8 from the factory but the sticker in the door says 16x6. 5. So my question is, How far out from the fender will these wheels stick and if I do decide to keep them, how big can I go with tires?

If you do any extreme towing you'll want to make sure the wheels you buy are forged and not cast aluminum. Most of the wheel on the market are cast. Weld and a few other companies make forged wheels but not many. I broke one of my Eagle Alloy 102 wheels from putting too much stress on it. A nice set of forged wheels is usually $2000 or more.

I bought my forged Alcoa's for less than $1000. I couldn't find a current link, did Alcoa stop making 16x6 dually wheels?
