If I have to replace the whole thing I am considering the 180A OEM alternator from the 6.7, but with what I just found I am fairly certain it's an easy fix.

180 amps! What are you going to run.....an ARC welder? (Hey, that turbo is still making me smile on my 2007, 5.9. Can't believe how fast the boost builds!)

I occasionally do some winching and 180 is better than 136. The rest of the time it's not a big deal.

If you make it to Nampa, Durobilt has always treated me well when I've had alternator/battery issues. They typically take the alternator apart on the spot and let me know if something is amiss or not.

Looks like I'll be calling, and probably making a trip to, Durobuilt tomorrow. I need a new rotor/slip ring, and brushes.

I pulled the armature brush housing out and the brushes are worn completely down after 30K miles and the slip ring has a lot of wear.

I'm not 100% sure what caused such rapid wear but I am guessing the winch motor that was failing on me 2 winters ago may have had something to do with it.
