I have been seriously contemplating a Catcher and new injectors. I currently have an ez with rv275's and a DTT auto and I live at over 6k elevation and frequently drive well over that. I know it is hot now but it smokes like crazy and would like to lessen the smoke and lessen low rpm turbo lag. If there is more power oh well I guess I will just have to deal with it :) .

Anybody running a catcher with say some Mach 1's or 1. 5's and live above 5k elevation. IF so how is the smoke and egts around town and while towing? I have enough power for my needs with my current setup but lower boost/lower speeds while towing can bring the egts pretty high and the smoke can be bothersome. Since I have an auto I have the HY turbo. I had Piers do his magic on it and while it works great at higher speeds/boost the lag is not as good as I hoped and at say 35-45mph towing out of OD egts can get up there to the point that I have to back out of it.

Is there anything I need to know about the Catcher in regards to drawbacks. (the catcher thread is just too big to go through from end to end)

Mach 1's or 1. 5's real differences between them in regards to smoke and egts.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to PM Hohn. He lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming (about your elevation), just put in mach 4's and has a catcher on the way (isn't running any other box).

You say you have an EZ - that means you either:

1) need to order a 'special' catcher, or

2) need to ditch the EZ.

The reason is timing. The catcher adds it - the EZ adds it, then you end up with too much. The special catcher does away with the timing and allows the catcher to play with timing boxes (like the EZ/Comp).

In my research, if I was to get a catcher, I would get a standard, unplug the EZ CAN BUS connector (leave in the MAP for a boost fooler or just get a standalone boost fooler), add injectors, and then, if I still wanted more power, I would get a fuel-only box.

Also, the new 1. 6 injectors are reported to have less smoke that the 1. 5s. They also add a few more HP with lower EGTs.

I've got mixed reports on whether the small-sized jammer/mach injectors produce more or less smoke than the RV275s.

Hope this helps.

Bob,

I know that

Guess the fingers are moving faster than the brain. :-laf

So scratch the whole EZ then - just keep the wastegate line blocked (at least until boost gets too high).

Barry- I am in Castle Rock and have the Catcher with Edge stage 3 Jammer injectors. It is smokey if you dont be careful. You are more than welcome to come over and drive it if you want. Or call me up 303-521-0809 . Patrick

IMHO, 1. 6's would be good. They run as strong as my old 2. 4's did with less smoke. I towed 14k 5ver to Yellowstone last year with CaTCHER and 2. 4's. The way I see it your main problem will be not enough turbo. I would recommend you go to at least a 35/40 hybrid or better yet a SuperB.

If I can control the smoke the with Catcher and M4s you should be fine with Catcher and whatever sticks.

I'll swap in the catcher when it gets here, destroy my clutch, then let you know how it went:rolleyes:

Hohn,

Let me offer my services to save your clutch. Just send it to me, I'll test it, and your clutch stays safe. :D
