I have looked over the posts , I am looking for a GPS but need Topo maps also , will any of the recommended units do Topo ?

Delorme has a complete US topo on a DVD (( 99 us bucks... ) at compusa.

When Out Boondocking I run the Streets program ( for names/locations etc )
and in another window I run ToPo program ( split screen )
GPS will track on both at the same time... , There's a zillion things the programs will do,

Streets can be programed to take voice comand also
to do the view controls, zoom in/out, pan direction , etc...

I use a Garmin c330 Street Pilot, in my 98 CTD and it works just great, easy touch screen, voice and works very well. I bought it for $226. 00 delivered to my door from PC Nation and it's been worth every penny, works very well in our truck or it can transferred to any other vehicle.

I know, virtually, next to nothing about GPS units. Since I've never had one, I really don't know if I'm missing anything, either.

My sister just informed me that Costco is having a Garmin Nuvi 360 on sale with a $100. 00 off, coupon. Does anyone know anything about this unit? Is this a good unit &, a good deal?

In this thread, no one has mentioned the Nuvi 360. Is it too new or, a lousy unit that no one wants?

I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Mr. Buffalo I have a Garmin nuvi 350 and I like mine. Made a few trips with mine and it done good. That is best price i have seen, I paid more for my 350 than you paid for your 360. The 360 is one step up over 350. Never heard any bad reviews on the 360. The 360 has been out awhile. The Garmins are very easy to use. Just my . 02

Hey Folk's,

I tried out my new Garmin c330 and it works great. Accurate each time I used it and, very simple to use with the touch screen. I believe my wife said it cost $179. 00 at Wal-Mart. Anyhow, I am enjoying it and am glad that it's simple to use because I am not the brightest light in the box when it comes to electronic stuff. Have a great New Years!

I have the Garmin Nuvi 660. Love it. I would buy it again. Well I would buy the newer one with the internal antenna ;-)

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 which has worked flawlessly for the past year although it has taken me through some neighborhoods that were awfully dangerous looking but I got to my destination in a timely fashion. A friend of mine got a GPS from one of his kids for Christmas that cost $140 at Radio Shack and it seems that it will do everything you would want. Get one that you can change the voice from that irritating woman's voice to a guy. It's bad enough having one woman in the cab telling me where to go:)

I have navigation on my Sprint phone. Last time I used it it gave better directions than mapquest. It's live realtime, talks to you, tell you where you are ahead of time and tells you where to turn. 3D continuously updating view, trip summary, traffic, the whole nine yards. Just don't call me when I'm using it.

Although I was searching for a Garmin Nuvi 660. I got a Magellan 4250, the price was very right. When in comparison the features were virtually the same.

Haven't had a chance to get it installed yet, which brings me to the dumb question of the day. Where did you folks install yours,? on the dash centered or on the windshield.

The dash will reguire the use of the sticky pad as the dash material is rough but it will make a cleaner looking install.

What are your experiences and thoughts?

Thank you
