Ok I am just reposting this for my own insecurities. Do I level my truck before I put the 315's or not? I do not want any rubbing. Although I swore up and down I was going to get the Superlift RED springs. I have decided that the price difference between them and a spacer I could almost pay for gauges:D Well please advise I will be ordering tires before the end of the week.

Thanks!!!

PS I have the 17 x 8 chrome wheels

Truthfully... I;d put the tires on first. . then IF they rub do the level kit.

There's several who have them with rubbing issues... and several without rubbing issues.

Mine for instance DON'T rub and I have NOT added a level kit.

I think you could put the tires on and see what happens. If they rub, it won't be a lot. FWIW, mine didn't rub and I have 17x8 aluminum factory rims.

Has any one experienced rubbing of the fenders?

I wont mind it rubbing on the control arm but if it would rub on the fenders I would rather lift it first. If it rubs on the control I will spend the $225 to level it!!

David,

Do you know of the front end differences between the 3500 & 2500?

Thanks!

I have the 17X8. 5 aluminum factory rims. I am not 100% sure but I don;t think anyone has had fender rubbing problems... except on the bottm edge of the PLASTIC air dam which could be trimmed to accomodate.

The factory aluminum rims are 8. 5" I'm not sure if the chrome are 8 or 8. 5 I put on the 315x17 BFG ATs and then MTs and both rub control arms just slightly. I don't even notice it now, I just don't force the wheel when it touches (it's like a rubber stop) It just slightly shines the control arm in one small place. This is w/o a leveling kit of any kind.

These truck seems to very slightly from one to another. Some rub slightly with steel wheel and some don't. With the stock alumimum wheel, rubbing seems less common.

I went with a 2" leveling kit just for appearance reasons and put it on at the same time as wheels and tires. As far as changing other front end components, it's really just personal preference. It realigned perfectly after adding the steel spacer and there was no need to add anything else. A reputable front end shop did the install and they said I didn't need any other changes. I did throw on a set of Rancho 9000s a week later for better control and handling. The truck sits nice and flat and looks great with the BFGs. I have no rubbing at all.

I did add a set of Xenon fender flares (painted to match body). They look like they came on the truck. Much better protection from flying junk off of the big tires.

I've had my 315's on for a couple weeks..... 2500 4x4... stock lift... . chrome... . if wheel is turned HARD left or right, mine do rub..... someone came up with a brainstorm... . don't turn it that far:rolleyes: ... ... well that works most of the time . . and when not its so slow a speed that you feel the bump, bump, bump of the lugs rubbing the connecting arm... ... . just noticed a little spot as big as your fingernail with paint rubbed... . other than that no rubbing elsewhere... ... . and... . mileage went away somewhat..... but altitude x attitude = ... its worth the trade offs:D

Catcracker: Do you know of a source for the 2" leveling kit with the modified control arms? Does the kit come with shocks? For $225, the shocks must come separately. I saw someone post the Rancho part number (RS9000x front = 99221) for the longer shocks, so I have that covered.

I want to level the truck, but want to do it right. Is there a reputable and functional spacer option, or am I better off buying new springs (a 2" lift) for the front if I want to do it the right way?

I don't do enough serious 4 wheelin' that I really need new springs, just like the look of the levelled truck...

For EVERYONE thagt has the 315's and a 2" lvl kit I URGE that you get new shocks!!! Many are having the problem where there wheel starts bouncing and almost loose control. Last night i did an experiement with my truck and i found that there is not enough room on the stock shock with the 315's and 2" leveling kit. I am ordering new shocks today!

WATCH YOURSELF GUYS. I DONT WANT TO HEAR OF SOMEONE GETTING HURT

TBrennan,

The stock aluminum rims are 8. 5" I know this from when I got the 315 BFG AT tires mounted. They measure the rim width & enter that in the balance machine. I think the spare steel rim is 8" wide.
