Anyone looking at a leveling kit for there 4WD?? If so are you looking at spacers or replacing the springs?? I replaced the springs on my 2001 with springs from Skyjacker and I really liked them. Has anyone checked with them yet?

I am looking also,my 98. 5 I went with the steel spacer,worked well.

the front end on the 03 needs to go up though. mike

What kind of kit did you use?? I sure would like to see some pictures 4xquadrod!!!!!!

I'm trying to figure out if my 3500 sits higher in the back then my 2500 did. the slope from front to back sure looks bigger.

The lift was from Pro Comp purchased from

pgseries.com

I don't have pics yet but soon.

One thing the company didn't do which is going to be fixed is raising the dog bone on the front sway bar. When the truck is raised on a lift the sway bar bends its mount. :(

Also it took three attempts to find 17's that would fit over the calipers on this truck. I had to custom order them.

I think I'm going to try the 2" poly spacer from Daystar.

Oh, and just because it hasn't been said yet, the 94-02 spring spacers all work on the 03's, the front spring buckets are the same in any way that matters.

I went with the steel spacers last time, they worked well,I did have a problem with my axel pushing over to far. looked like it was off from the factory, found a spacer on the rotor to bring tire out on pass side. had to add bracket on trac bar to push axel back over.

I would very much be interested in info on a leveling kit or spring

spacers or what have you. I thought my new 3500 was looking

like a 2wd drive because my dealer failed to order me the "snow plow prep package" because he said all the diesels will automatically come with the heavier springs in the front.

I compared trucks on the lot and the ones with the plow prep pack had a different numbered spring than those without and measured 1-1/2" taller to inside fender well.

I want a higher look in front and was going to buy the heavier springs. What do you guys recommend?

EOwens,

I know that you can get 2. 5 inch higher springs from Skyjacker for a 2001 Ram with the Cummins for a couple hundred dollars. From what I have read they will fit BUT I am concerned about the stock height of the truck. On a 2001, Skyjacker said that 2. 5 to 2. 75 inches max is all you could raise them without changing lower control arms, etc... . If the 2003 stock springs are not as long as the 2001 then you might exceed that 2. 75 inches and therefore need other mod's other than the springs..... I guess I need to get of my butt and call Skyjacker... . hehe

Actually the springs and two front shocks were only about $235 so the springs 'only' are probably less than $200..... I bet Mopar's springs cost more than these... .

Did you get a price on the Snow Plow Prep springs??

If the info matters to anyone, I just put the steel leveling spacer kit from Tuff Country under the front end of my '02 4X4. It brought the front end up an exact 2". The truck now sits almost perfectly level, still a little lower in the front than the back, but not in a bad way (maybe only 1/2"). It needed an alignment following the install to fix the death shake I was now getting on cement bridges at freeway speeds, as well as the humming associated with a bad allignment toe. So far, I'm quite pleased with it. Does anyone know how big of a tire I could go now, keeping the stock wheels? I'm considering a 35" or metric equivalent, but I think that may be too big, any one know?

35s fit fine as long as your rims are the 8. 25" width not the 9. 75" I had the 9. 75"x16. 5"rims and 35" tires. They would occasionally rub on the back plastic fender liner. Changed to 8. 25"x16. 5" rims and no more rubbing. The further out you put the wheel, the farther back it will swing.

Garry.

I'm concerned over some of the troubles y'all are having with only the 2" leveling kit. I put in Daystar spacers (2" with studs) and had no problem. The Track bar design will shift the axle over left . 11" for each inch of lift, this is normal, and all the lines and control arms support this length as it is still within the original moment of the front axle.

The alignment shouldn't change unless you are removing the control arms, and especially the cams, or removing the drag link at the adjuster instead of the ball stud.

Mine leveled very close, and is dead level with 850 lbs in the back, and tracks as straight and true as before. I installed 315-70R17's before the lift and they fit perfectly.

The stock shocks are definitly too short and should be replaced, but they are also too short for stock unlifted use as the pistons slap when the front end extends on gettin' a little air, before and after lifting.

And the sway bar link stud extensions are too weak as well.

Jackit.com has the best price on the 2" leveling kit and and Hotrod Offroad.com has the best price on Rancho RS9000X Shocks.

I'm sure they would fit,but they are 2. 5 I think? a little to high . then I would need 1in add a leaf in rear to make it look right.

EOwen- back to different spring thing, can you even get the snow prep on a quad cab diesel. If you can, i believe it is only available with the auto diesel not the six speed. i believe it has to do with the weight of the six speed. I looked at several quad caps around here and they all have the same springs on the diesels.

please correct me if i am wrong , anybody.
