Leveling Springs

I was told that the Skyjacker 2. 5" leveling springs work wonders for the first gen 4x4's. My question to you is how much do these things cost, where can I get them, and how hard are they to install?

I do not know what some of the sites are getting on line. I priced a set of front springs about 6 months ago. My local speed shop told me $450 for the complete kit for the front axle.



Now if you go to order a set. Make sure you know the bolt size of the threw bolts for the sping eyes. There were some people on here before I became a member that got 1/2" spring eyebolts when the trucks took 5/8"s bolts. So make sure if you order to tell them the size of bolts you use.

Add a Leaf

I don't know what they offer now, but I put a set of JC Whitney Add a Leaf springs on the front of my 93. This was back in 1994 when I put the 33x12. 5 tires on. I think the cost was less than $75. I traded it in in May 2001, and NEVER had a problem. It leveled the truck, and had the side affect of making it easier to stear. By the way--It was a VERY simple install. Jackstands, bottle jack and WD-40 are a must though.

They still have those add-a-leaf kits. I didn't think they would provide enough lift. I saw some springs in JC-Whitney (not skyjacker) that were like $150. I'm hoping that they're all about that price. Are all leveling springs pretty much the same, or is there a big difference?

I think they are part number D100C-S for the 1" Skyjacker softrides @ $137 per side and D200C-S for the 2. 5" softrides @ 110$ per side from 4 Wheel Parts performance centers. Hope this helps.

I don't know how close you are to logan, UT, but Mount Logan priced me at $805. That includes new front springs, rear add a leafs, steering arm, shocks, and installation. Now if they could just get it in for me, i have to go check with them affter lunch. I'll post what it does when its on. alonzo

My add a leaf set up gave me about a 1 3/4" lift. It settled out to about an 1 1/2" lift after about a year. You could also try a custom truck spring shop??????

just ordered TRAIL MASTER add a leaf from local speed shop today for $80 for the front of a 92 w-250 suppose ta give 2-3 inch lift. will install this weekend , i'll give you the results then

got my add a leafs in tonite went very smooth and leveled my truck perfectly just need to have the front end realigned now , cause the steering wheel is off. but for $80 bucks the add a leaf was a good buy also truck rides much better. Oo.

how much clearance between the stop and frame did the add a leafs provide?

personally... i think these front ends sit up higher than the rear of the truck and i hate that look..... but i am going to install add a leafs to both the front and the rear so i can put on 33x12. 50 on

I agree with you on that. My 91 sits a bit higher in the front than the rear. The previous owner had a slide in camper he left in it for 10 years. Rear leafs are weak and when I choose to do something with the front end, I'll have to do something to the rears as well.

That's what I need to do, Add-a-leafs F/R 160 bucks. Not bad. How long does the install normally take??

It's strange to hear you guy's trucks are higher in front than rear. Mine is the opposite, even though the previous owner had the fronts re-arched and added a leaf to the front. I doubt this lifted it any, just made up for the sag. I prefer it to sit a little higher in the rear when it's unloaded. That way, when I have a lot of weight in the bed or when I'm pulling my gooseneck, it sits about level and doesn't sag in the rear. I can't stand the look of a truck that's sagging badly in the rear when it's loaded. Just my opinion. The Skyjacker front replacement leaf packs sound like the way to go though, for ride improvement.

His truck sags in the back because of always being loaded and not having helper springs. That's just what happens with time. The leaf springs are just worn out.



I don't like it when trucks sag when loaded either. That why I want to make sure I don't get my truck perfectly level.

yup... that is why i wmay add a leaf in the back and see what it looks like...
