Fellow Rammers:

I discoverd slight transmission leak at the Fast Cooler a couple of weeks ago. I thought seal had gone bad, but today I found deep scratch in the aluminum face cover and a crack in the Lexan. Fortunately, I saved my stock PTO cover and discarded the Lexan. Lesson learned: plastic or glass window on the under carriage of a vehicle is not good.

Happy leak free trails :p

Thanks for posting that. I wondered if anyone ever had a problem with the lexan cover breaking or getting broke by something. I've been checking mine at oil changes, so far no problems since the install 3 months ago.

I've had mine on for six months now & no cracks or leaks. Do you know what caused the scratch? I wonder if that also caused the crack?

No Idea!

Silver Ram:

No idea, although I'm thinking it might have been a piece of metal I ran over. Thank goodness it didn't shatter it open.

Had mine on for 6 months with no problem ... but run over a piece of tractor tire that had blown on I40 one night and more or less smashed the passenger side clean off the transmission ... man talk about a bad smell when that oil hit the exhaust at 70 MPH ... pulled over to checkout what was going on and found half of it left bolted on and the other half MIA ... . and yeppers, you guessed it, the old plates were stored nicely in the garage at home ... about 400 miles away. :{

I love my wife, especially at 2AM in da morning :eek: when I am pleading with her on da phone to try and describe and find stuff in the garage and bring them to me ASAP :-{} . . Honest honey I'm just up the road aways ... Sheesh good thing I was on the road the rest of the week ... gave her time to cool down some.

On the plus side, it will never get rusty under there ... LOL

I had one of the very first Lexan covers for the Fast Coolers (Piers gave me a promo Lexan cover and stainless steel frame for my NV241HD transfer case). So far, no problems or leaks! :D

I hope this lexan holds up, if not, I saved the old cover. I will also be making sure I don't run over anything that will flip up either.

Sounds like your wife's a good sport. My wife doesn't understand my fascination with upgrading the truck, but I told her I could be a drunk like her first husband & I at least I had something to show for the money I spent.

I need to ask a *REALLY* dumb question..... Why would you want a clear cover on a Fast Cooler? Polycarb is a crummy conductor of heat, and there's no way to view the cover in use, only at a standstill.
