the cheapskate is coming out in me here, but oh well,,, :D

I found a pump that is kock off of the Carter pumps, a few of the guys are using as helper pumps back at the tank. The Carter is rated for 7psi @ 100gph free flow and the one I found are made by Airtex and are rated for 7-9psi and 70gph FF, and heres the kicker, they cost $82 bucks at Car Quest and carry a lifetime warranty, thats right lifetime, and how many Car Quest stores are there compared to performance shops across this large spans of a country. I believe it was over 6000...

I pick it up today, and will have it on tonight, if it works out to be OK, ill update this post with the part # and how it runs.

its in...

well I picked it up today on the way home form work,as it turns out, my suspicion was right. it is a carter pump, new, not a reman, just painted black and in a Car Quest wrapper. it has Carter stamped in it on the bottom. the only thing that was bad about it was it didnt have a mounting bracket, and the lugs were not threaded. i took a 12-24 tap and some brass nuts and washers and fixed that problem. then a piece of . 090 aluminum and bent a bracket.

I ran a +& - wire to the back and mounted a 30amp relay on the fender by the fuse panel, then i ran inside it to a spare slot and put a 20amp fuse on it to feed the new pump. then ran down and caught the hot wire of the factory pump to use to trigger the relay

the good thing about this pump is it carries a lifetime warranty unlike the ones you get out of summit or Jegs or where ever. . :D

runs fine and cannot be heard over the engine running. it was $89 total for the pump some fittings and three feet of 3/8 fuel line.

the part number for it is; E8257

Old Dog, I mounted the new helper on the frame right in front of the tank (5"). it was easy to do I reused the hole from one of the keepers for the fuel lines and right next to it was a hole I used a self tapping bolt through it and walla.

the hardest part of the whole project was after cutting into the fuel line, the fuel kept syphoning out of the tank, I had to use a hose with a plug in it until I was ready to connect the line.

so if you guys do this make sure the tank is empty, not full like mine. :D

Old dog, check out this post I did recently - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19767&highlight=pusher - it details how I installed a pusher pump (the pump Todd's talking about would hook up the same way, mine is mounted in the same place as Todd's - right in front of the tank - as close as possible). On the fuel syphoning thing mine did the same when I was installing it but I was able to pop the line out of the bracket that's about 2-3 inches back from the front of the tank and raise the line high enough that the fuel drained back into the tank - no more syphoning!
