Going to buy a lift for my truck before they stop making them. I know there is really only one out there for our trucks, that being Skyjacker. Allready have the RS9000 for a 4" lift front and back but not sure if I'm going with 4" lift. Also thinking about getting a set of 305/70/16 tires if they will fit on stock rims which will be pushing it.

Did a search on prices but nothing there so what did you guys pay, were did you get it from and what did you guys get.

2. 5" front only=$

2. 5" front and rear add a leaf=$

4" front and back=$

And what if any problems with install and what would you do differently next time.

Thanks guys.

Mark,

I did the Skyjacker 2. 5 on the front and back, but i used the 6" rear springs and did away with the blocks, made for allot better ride and helped with the axle wrap also, the only problem was installing the rear springs, you've got to drop the fuel tank some to get tom the foward left spring bolt.

I've had mine for a while but i think i paid $700 for the entire kit, ordered directly from skyjacker, well worth it just for the improved ride ... ... ... ... . Rick

Thanks Rick,

Funny thing is Skyjackers site doesn't list any lift for our trucks anymore. They did but now even the new catalogs don't even show it either. Even phoned long distance to out of province places but they said there catalog doesn't list anything. Found aplace close to me that said they can get it but will take 1 month at least. Sounds funny to me?

Ok, I know they used to say for diesel. Now it doesn't. Will have to phone and confirm. Last thing I need is weak springs that will sag.

Howdy,

How does the 6 inch w/o blocks in the back compare to stock w/blocks? Higher, Lower How about a load? Does it sag more than stock? What is involved?

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

the rear springs work out to the same hight as stock but the ride is greatly improved (150%) they are a progresive rate spring the first inch is the good ride when your empty then when you load it up it firms right up the link bellow is my truck with with mt boat behind, 850 lbs on the tonge, 500 lbs+ of dive gear in the bed the truck drops about 2. 5-3" rides great down the road ... .....

Another thing when i;ve got my camper on the back and loaded about 1400lbs the truck stays pretty close to level but the whole thing sits down about an inch... ... .....

Mark The skyjacker lift kits are the same for the gas & diesel the only difference is the 6" gas is the same as the 4" diesel and the 8" gas same as 6" diesel that is what skyjacker told me and I tried it with 6" gas springs and sure enought it was 4" on my diesel the bushings are different but the springs are the same. You can put an add a leaf in the front if you are just triyng to make up for any sag and save some money but the ride won't be very good. Far as price from 2. 5" to 4" shoudn't be but a couple of dollars Summitracing.com sells skyjacker you may have to call them because they probaly don't list them in there catalog. hope this helps

Whoaa! that's a dang big boat!

RDusch, Nice truck by the way.

What does putting the 6 inchers on require? Is all you do is take out the block, does it need shims? I would like to put them on my truck.

Lift kit

Mark; When you do find a source for these lift kits please post where you found them as I would like to get a 2 1/2" kit for my '89 before they stop making them as well.

Jeff

Steve,

the 6" rear spring are a bolt on conversion, remove old springs, blocks and ubolts, and install the new ones, the kit comes with a 3 deg. shim for pinon angle ... ... ..... Rick

Mark was talking to a buddy of mine about two months ago apparently an outfit called b. d. s. makes spring packages for our trucks. bill

Bill,

Anyone can make a 48" spring, but the trick is to make it just soft enough but not sag. Do you know if they can do this?

I'm going to phone Skyjacker tomorrow.

Hey mark,

Two things here... first, are there any major drawbacks to the "block" method of compensating for sag?

Second, there is a spring shop in Bby that made my brothers full set for him. He told them he wanted about 2 1/2" lift and never, EVER wanted to have to deal with this again. They did it, and it's been perfect ever since. That was several years ago.

I could probably "root them out" if your interested and send the info along to you if you like.

Hi Mark,

I have the Skyjacker 4 inch lift (about $1100 CDN from www.national4wd.com - I'm NOT endorsing them in any way, they continually lost my credit card info and address, but still had my name and number, and never called to get my address, they'd get the parts and just wait for me to call to check the status of my order  ) the front leaf packs were ok, but I wasn't really impressed with the shocks, (which you have anyway) the rears for instance had to be almost fully extended to fit. It's been a couple years since I put it in and I don't remember 100%, but I believe they did have different springs for the diesel but the shocks were used in many different kits. It doesn't seem to have settled and I got about 3. 75 inches lift out of the deal.

Cheers,

Ray

Thanks guys.

After checking into this I've decided to have a local guy build me a lift system that will be installed on friday. He came highly recommended by PDR and he will stand behind his product, which is very important to me. I've seen some of his lifts at the PDR but didn't know he did them until today. 23 years of building springs and lifts so I'm, going with him.

Skyjacker still sells lifts for our trucks but just doesn't advertise diesel lifts anymore. After talking with people and asking questions I found the Skyjacker bushings are not very good and the wait also turned me off. In the USA i found Rocky Mountain Suspenions and the link Ray posted is also a good one for Canada.

Jeff, With the dollar the way it is worth looking into National 4 Wheel Drive if Skyjacker suits you.

Bob, Blocks are ok for the backs but they are illegal for the fronts. On the front it wouldn't help with suspenion travel anyways, only with body height. The leafs and bump stop distance wouldn't change.

Thanks again guys,

mark
