Installed a pressure sensor at the post fuel filter test port. When I turn the key to the wait-to-start, the lift pump runs, pressure builds and then drops back to zero when the pump shuts off. Is this normal? Don't want to hit the START if this indicates no fuel at the injector pump!

The lift pump runs for about 5 seconds and then shuts off when you turn the key to "on".

Then it will start again as soon as the starter relay picks up. So, there is pressurised fuel available at the VP-44 when the engine starts. The Cummins starts so quickly that it seems like the pressure builds only after it starts.

Thanks for the quick replys.

That's good that it's normal. Now, I've tried to start the truck with just a few turn overs but it didn't catch. Normally, it needs only a second or two at most to fire up?

Guess I'll have to bleed the lines a bit.

It's times like this (things aren't going real smooth and it's late in the day), it's good to know people are "near by" when you need them.

Thanks again, guys.
