Lift pump

Maybe you need to talk to mike clay he's on pump #5 AND IS STOCK. I don't know what your doing to them but I hope that I don't catch it . I'm on LP #2 at 37K.

I'm taking this pump back to Cummins. I swapped my senders around and I got the same results. I'm pretty sure my problem is not with the senders. The first time I bumped the engine to make sure the new pump would run, it sounded weak. Swapping the senders around pretty much convinced me that the pump was a turd.

Regardless of where the pump should be located for fuel delivery, I find it highly questionable to have such reliability issues with a pump that's been on the market as long as this one has been.

John, just for the heck of it try switching the horn and fuel pump relay around inside the power distribution box. If the pump sounds week maybe the relay is corroded and not passing enough current. what the heck it will only take but 2 minutes to try.

I looked through the service manual for my '01 last night and according to the wiring diagrams, the LP is run directly off of the computer. The relay controls the power to the VP injector pump. If anyone else has a service manual handy, please check to see that I have interpreted the wiring diagrams correctly.
