I tested the lift pump today only 4 psi at idle drops to "O" at 2000 rpm no load would this be covered under 100,000 mile warranty or am i buying it myself. I wont be driving the truck until I replace it. I will be converting it to a pusher pump mounted back at the tank. also tested both ports and only 1 psi difference between them at idle used two different gauges got the same reading on both. Also trying to decide on electrical or mechanical gauge... . George

It is covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. Mechanical Gauge is the most reliable way to go. With the electrical guage you introduce more variable to the problem. You always wonder is the guage right? Lots of reported bad fuel pressure sending units on the electrical type guages.

Isspro's are very good for the cost. They also have the ranges on all the guages you need for our diesel application.

This is good news do you think they will relpace it at 4 psi if not I will replace it so I dont do any damage I only have 14,000 miles or 13 months on them thanks... George

Yes, they'll replace it at 4psi idle and especially at "0" no load.

It is kind of a pain to change, but a bonding moment with the truck. I got mine for $157 at cummins and I just read on here somebody got one at O'reily's part store for $107. Came in a Cummins box!

I would probably change it myself as typical dealer story is 3 days wait. They don't have it in stock, got it in late that afternoon. finish it next day. Wasn't worth it for me to be without truck for possibly 3 days. I enjoyed the wrenching even if it was a PITA! Took me two hrs, never done it before and had my 4 yr old helper!

I went t O'reily's part store online and they dont list the pump maybe just that store has it or if you call them on the phone

You can replace the lift pump quickly, if you just remove the fuel filter screws and pull it away and tie it back, to get to your lift pump bolts, and fuel line. I did it with no prior knowledge, in less that 15 minutes. (The Factory manual has us removing the starter, which is totally stupid; obviously to get more $$$ from us morons!!)

well i took the truck in this am to have the lift pump tested. asked if it was bad would they have one in stock to replace it . the answer was no. so i asked if these are such a problem why wouldn't you stock one he said he wasn't aware there was a problem with them and they have never had to replace one. I know the brother of there diesel mechanic I will try and talk to him this week

Robby Ram is right. kneel on the front bumper, take the filter housing off and your right at the lift pump. 15 minute job. i can't imagine getting at the pump from underneath. It would take forever working blind from below.

just got off from the phone with the service manager he said i was right the pump is low on pressure but DC wants the flow test he said he was going to call them and try and BS them into just sending the pump one of the first things he said they tested for was to see if the pump had been tampered with. ie. the box:D

thats what he told me I bought the truck used and have not installed the comp. I bought yet sounds like the original owner didn't either
