Using the VulcanWeld Lift pump kit, I mounted the lift pump at the tank. The parts were complete and was a straight forward operation, if I can do it, most anyone can. New lift pump, saving the old one for a spare. 7000 mi on the spare. Pressure is sixteen lbs at idle, full throttle around l3 lb. No mods. In the install I broke one of the nipples(alum?), called Vulcan Weld and they immediately sent me a nice stainless steel nipple at no chg. Maybe you could upgrade to all stainless steel nipples with an increase in cost of course. If necessary, I can likely change out the pump on the road now in fifteen minutes or so. Not even get dirty. Love it. By the way, some of you are asking about a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the cab, been running one in the cab for quite a while. One hundred twenty five lb psi hose, needle valve on the filter, hook it up and have at it, no sweat. The flow rate seems to be greater with the half inch hose, I didn't measure it but I know the fuel is pouring out like water out of a garden hose.
Some notes, Stopped at a farm equipment dealer, asked about a fuel pump, showed me one they use on a combine, fify bucks. If the flow rate was good and the pressure, why not use it, easy to mount on the frame bracket now. Better than spending six hundred dollars, and you could install filters also, if you want to.
