My fishin buddy has a 95 auto like mine but his is a 2500.

He is replacing his lift pump with a new one from the dealer. The one they gave him doesn't look like the one he has. He took it back and they told him it replaces his old one. But the hard line and the soft molded rubber line don't match up. Is there more than one lift pump?

There are aftermarket pump that have the primer on the top and not bottom like ours. . There are Carter pumps with different mounting angles used on other applications. . I don't have the carter part number with me but can get it. . Marc

There have been 3 or 4 different vendors for the pumps, and a few different flow piston pumps and many applications for the different pumps. Product Improvment in Cummins speak...

He just got the fuel pump from the local cummins dealer and just to let you know its a Carter (Cummins PN# 3936316).

Hey P,

Same thing happened to me. I didn't know about the difference till I went to hook the new one up at 9:00pm and no parts house open. I figured I could make it work by looping the 1/2" hose but try finding that in the middle of the night! I finally found a Kenworth dealer open late that had some 1/2" air conditioner hose. It's still on there but I have a 2' piece of fuel hose in the tool box for when it starts leaking. ;)
