My lift pump is going out quick. It is on a 99 with 60. 000 miles. Is that still covered by the warranty? The truck is bombed, do I need to remove the bombing? I have read a lot about installing a secondary pusher pump, there are so many choices, can you tell me about your sucess or failures with different brands? I need to get this resolved before the LSTDR Rally on Oct 25. Also which fuel pressure gauge is the most popular? ( easy to read, install, reliability ect. . ) Thanks guys in advance for all the great advice!

Keep on Truckin'!

The warranty covers the lift pump on the engine warranty..... 100,000 miles. As for the bombs, take any visible mods off and give it a try. Dealers get really anal about modifications. Good luck.

OK, I’m not going to go to the stealer. Although I am now completely confused! In the post “Proper order for upgrading…” Ted speaks of two lift pumps as the best way which I to am inclined to agree with. But later in the last page of the post (6) Mopar-Muscle stated that he spoke with a Cummins tech that said to ditch the factory pump and put just one larger pump in the rear by the tank. Which way is best? Any specific brands to use or not to use? How hard is it to move the lift pump from the stock position to the rear? It surely cant much harder than wiring in two pumps! Am I missing something here?? I have to make a decision soon, power is way down she won't last much longer.

For a single by the tank pump the new PE 4200 kit seems to be the way to go. PE will warraty theit pump for 2 years in our application. Call Andy at www.smokindiesel.com they've been R&Ding with PE for a while and they have tested pretty much all the set ups 'till now. He can steer ya in the right direction I guarantee ya. They have a kit ready to bolt on for any application.

I went through tis decision back in the spring. First I bought a pusher pump, (which was receivedbad) then another pump and a regualtor, then all kinds of brass fittings and stuff to make it work. Turned it on, pump was noisey as hell, and the 2nd pump also leaked like the first.

So I called Cummins, drove up there (10:00 at night) and picked up a new cummins lift pump for about a buck 50. Removed all the crap I bought at the speed shop, threw away probably $50. 00 worth of brass fittings (well, threw it way back in the tool box) and installed the Cummins Lift pump. It pushes enough pressure for me, and for what I had invested in the other pump and regulator I could buy 2 cummins pumps. This was only my 2nd lift pump replacment in 90K miles so thats about 30K per pump. Don't know how long the aftermarket ones are lasting, but I am happy with the stock pump, and I don't have to mess with it.
