Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift pump electrical problem?

I just installed a GDP392 lift pump kit in a friends 01CTD as I did in my 99CTD awhile ago. I notice that the pump does'nt run for 4 seconds when the key is turned on in the 01 like it does in the 99. It will run for 20-25 seconds if I bump the starter though. Has anyone had this problem or know a fix?

This is correct for the 01 trucks. I have been having problems with mine, so have been asking alot of questions, etc. This is the way it should be.
