Im replacing the lift pump on my 98 12 valve, and I bought a pump from genos garage and it didnt come with a gasket, so I bought a couple of gaskets from the dealership. I have taken the lift pump off and in the hassle of getting it out, I made sure the rod didnt fall in the oil pan, but the gasket fell off on the ground and Im not sure if the gasket went between the prefilter and the block, or the fuel pump and the pre filter, or were there 2 gaskets, one between the block and prefilter and one between the fuel pump and pre filter. sorry for the run on, grammar doesnt seem that important right now, I will be waiting for advice before i continue.

Thanks ahead of time

For easier installation get a pair of 55mm long studs and screw them into the block using loctite. Then it is easy to hang a gasket, install the bracket, hang the other gasket and install the pump. Tighten the nuts down alternately to keep the pump square to the mount. I use a second set of nuts to lock down the first set.

The Cummins lift pump gaskets, you need 2 of p/n 3939258, have " notched " shaped bolt holes which allow the bolts to " thread " into the gasket keeping it in place. They are also a good heavy duty type gasket. Shadrach
