Okay,

earlier today I filled up and when I got home I checked it, and sure enough there was fuel on the lift pump, fresh too. I'm thinking that the diaphragm might have gone out, so how much will a lift pump run me? Best place to buy one?(Cummins)

What's weird, is that through all this; she's still getting decent mileage-19. 4 mpg this time

Thanks, Steve:confused:

Steve,

I believe Piers Diesel Research was selling them as a special back in July. If memory serves me right (lol) they were on for around $70 - but don't hold me to it. Anyways I would check with them

Thanks Al, but I couldn't find a lift pump for a 1st Gen on PDR's website. I'm going to check around and see what I can find.

Does anybody know if there are some performance/aftermarket LP's for our trucks?

I do know that the Cummins pump is a Carter, so get your best deal at Napa, Checker, et al. Should be around $70.

On a side note, I've noticed that Cummins Gateway in Sikeston is higher than Cummins Rocky Mountain in Denver for almost everything. Cummins is the place to get the best deals in Denver; not so in SIkeston. Why the difference?

Sorry, dont know of any performance pumps for first gen. And... since the VE has no internal pressure regulator like the P7100, it may not be so hot an idea to push anymore fuel than needed, unless you're pumping 300 cubic mm per stroke, and need the extra volume. Unless you're just a real stickler for appearances, you can run it a long time with the diaphragm leaking. I ran mine 5K before I got around to replacing it. Finally started getting fuel on the transmission and decided a new LP might be a good idea.

Steve,

Even though the lift pump is not listed on the PDR website I would give them a call and I am sure they will be able to help you or answer any questions that you may have.

Thanks guys,

I checked NAPA and it's only 68. 72, not bad. I think i'll go with that. Does it come with the gasket? Anything else I'll need?
