I am going to Vegas this month and since I have 40,000 miles on the latest pump, I thought I would replace it. I am going to do it myself. Is there anything I need to watch out for, or any little tricks you guys have found? I have a crappy Haines Manuel, it was a gift. I will try to pick up a manual from Cummins this week. I have a 98 3500 4x4 ISB.

Thanks

TowPro-

I need to personally applaud you! I would have never tried "knee on the valve cover" had I not read your clear instructions. :cool: I take it that your right-handed as well.

The only thing that I would add for my 2001 install was to remove the two bolts securing the fuel filter assembly. This greatly enhances the visibility of the operation. Thanks again.

My results are as follows for a completely stock HO with 35,609-miles or 1107 hrs.

Original Lift Pump

idle = 9 psi

normal driving = 5-7 psi

WOT = 1 psi

New Lift Pump

idle = 14-15 psi

normal driving = 11-12 psi

WOT = 8 psi
