I have acquired two good lift pumps from 4B engines and was wondering if they will fit on my 6B with no problems. I looked at the one on the truck and compared it to the one off the 4B and they look identical and the inlet and outlets are the same as far as the angles of the fittings. The primer levers work good and want to replace the one on my truck sometime because I have reason to believe the primer doesn't work on it.

Don't know if this is any help but, If nobody answers you, call your local truck dealership [OTR] and ask the parts counter. Or, call NAPA :)

An ag dealer will also help as well as a construction equipment dealership. [And you thought the CTD was limited to our trucks. ] Hey, if it's good enough to pull a plow, it's good enough to pull a horse trailer:D :D Don't see no powersmokers in bulldozers either!!!

Sorry, I got a little excited there:rolleyes:

Phil,

There are lots of parts that fit both the 4b and 6b engines... I wouldn't surprise me that the fuel pumps are interchangeable.

I'd try it.

appreciate the input

Thanks Jay and Scott;)

I'm going to give it a try here in a few days when I'm off work and can play with it. I will change it out when I replace the fuel heater quad ring and replace the water pump and thermostat.

I may be able to get two 4B engines from work that are basically old cores and have never been returned to Cummins for the core charge refund. One is a short block and the other a long block.

I figured some of the external parts may fit and maybe even the connecting rods (doubt I'd ever need 'em).
