Hey Guts,

Just one month ago I put gauges on my truck. I was very happy to see 14 to 15 psi fuel pressure at idle and never less that 10 psi at WOT.

The other day my fuel pressure dropped to 3 psi at idle and even lower going up hill at 55 mph.

Convinced that it was the gauge I took it back to ADT and Andy used a mechanical gauge. 3 psi at idle.

Tthis morning I went to the dealer, they first said they thought it was the gauge, but upon checking with their gauge, found it to be 3 psi at idle. They ordered a new pump. Hope the truck runs until the new pump comes in. About a week he said.

Oh yeah. 10,000 miles on the truck and yes warranty.

I just hope that they get the newest model pump. ;) :p

lift pump

Thanks for the advice guys. I put the beast in the garage and there it will stay until I take it back to the dealer.

Andy at Advanced Diesel Technology, told me they have a new generation pump that is better than all the rest. I hope I get that one installed.

Has anyone heard of the new pump or have any info.

My fuel pressure low too!!

As soon as I started it tonight, FP was 0, after about a minute it slowly started to rise. It took about 3 minutes to get to 15 psi and then it would drop like a rock as soon as I got on it. :( I shut it off and tried it again and some thing. Is my lift pump headin' south for the winter?   With only 2600 miles, I hope not!

Cobra,

Check the fuel filter and overflow valve before changing the pump... It's probably the pump, but its good to check the other stuff out too. :D Use regulated air pressure to check the overflow valve. It should open up at 11-12 psi. BOMB on.

Over flow vavle??

Where is the over flow vavle? I hope I can fix this, I don't want to mess with the stealer.

Turboman,

I'm not sure you have a lift pump problem by the sounds of it. Even Backs advice is good, and you may have a bad fp gauge.

Even Beck,

Thanks for your advice, that was already done. Thanks again

oops sorry guys, what Dave posted is right.

Evan Beck. I am sorry I wrote your name wrong. I had my head up my a$$ earlier.

Our 2002 runs 16+ PSIG fuel pressure at idle. At WOT towing, it will drop to 11-12 PSIG. 4700 miles on truck at this writing. Will this new design live... time will tell, I guess.
