Dave D, thanks! if you could check on that it would be helpful. I bought the truck used. Will have to look through my paperwork that i have and check and see if i have somthing that says.

I don't have the extended warrenty, that is the bad part. Will head over and check out the other thread. What are the good points of the bosch pump?

i think the lift pump is covered under the 100 k engine warranty as it is attached to the engine .

i did some digging today , only pump i have not confirmed is the mallory . but what i did find out is the holley is misrepresented in the summit catolog , it is rated at 14psi freeflowing , 9psi in use , less that stock pump . the BG pump is not designed to run continuiously , i called BG today and spoke with a tech guy , said they do not have a pump for our application . yes it will work but there is no gaurntee as to how long . also summit tech line said they do not have a pump is their catolog that will meet our needs .

i also called carter , the pump on the cummins as supplied by the factory is rated to run continuiously at max pressure , the problem is it is placed to far from the fuel source , 3 feet max , >>> EDIT i loked last nite its more like 8 plus feet of line between the pump and the bottom of the pickup tube <<< #ad
what we also came up with is to place a pump within 3 feet of the fuel source , 7psi continuious powered to feed the stock lift pump . also remove the restrictive banjo bolts . i'm going to have this setup in place within a week or so , i will leave in the banjo bolts for first part of test to see what modifiying the bolts will do .

My lift pump was replace at approximately 80K miles under the 100K engine warranty. No questions ask. I did have to wait one day for it to be shipped from STAR.
It is covered I am told because it is on the engine when shipped from Cummins.
When mine failed the pump was not running at all but the truck ran with only a slight miss at idle sometimes and at high speed acceleration. My injector pump failed at 115K and i figure that the 2000 miles or so I drove without a lift pump caused the failure.
Just my $. 02.

Good luck

Mopar Muscle is dead on guys, as he and I have been batting this thing back & forth the last few days--go to the Holley Pump listing and read away-- if anything read the last few entries as they are full of info from some of us--The Mallory pump may get attacked tomorrow if I have time--go read it's worth it---as I've been led to believe the BG pump was an easy install only to find out it's not-and that is beacsuse Mopar Muscle called BG today and got a little different story than I did yesterday, so I called them back and talked to a great guy and got the low down---chris

The lift pump problems are a real pain until you contemplate and compare it to the Fuel Cackle woes the Ford boys are fighting... ... .
