I am looking for anyone who had moved there lift pump to the back of the truck by the tank. I am fixxing to do this and I was hoping for some pics and hints. Brandon has made me a "kit" with all the necessary fitting and hoses, but what else do I need. I know I have to make some sort of bracket... any ideas on that??

I know I saw some pictures on one post of the install fo someones transfer pump, who was it?? I searched the best I could and could turn up nothing.

Here's a link to that thread, if you scroll down to one of my post, you'll see the link for a picture of my Mallory. Since I found out that sediment caused the first pumps demise, I have changed a few things. The sediment filter you see in the pic. has now been eliminated and replaced with a in Earl's screen filter. Right now, everything is plumbed with the 3/8" rubber line, but I will be replacing that in the near future with Earl's braided flex line, -8AN, from the tank to the Mallory. Whether you are planning on either A). moving the Carter pump back or B) upgrading to a different lift pump, think long and hard about putting in something to filter the fuel before it enters the pump. Mallory recommends a filter that will stop down to 40 microns, the Earl's filter stops down to 35 microns and still has the flow capacity of 4-5 gallons per minute.

until you pick a pump we're not going to be much help in the mounting dept--but there are clamps out there that will work that you can mount to the frame with some drilling---pre filter is always a good idea as is a regulator at the VP44 if the pump is rated at more than 15psi--and a separate return line---I strongly recommend a relay to power the relocated pump--use the OEM pump wire to switch on the relay-use nothing less than a #12 wire from relay to pump---hope this helps--chris

Bigsaint - thanks for the link.

Everyone - I am moving the stock pump to the rear for the time being. I am going to extend the stock wiring to the rear with 12 gauge wire as suggested. Does anyone have any idea what type of bracket I need to make for the stock pump??

I will post pictures of what ever I do once it is done.

Thanks guys

The Stock Pump?

JR2, please tell me you made a mistake and your really planning to use a real transfer pump(beg, beg).

Regarding mounting a pump near the tank, just drill the frame and use some self tappers or through bolts. My Mallory came with a bracket that surrounds the pump body. It's simple to fire some bolts through the bracket to anchor it to the frame.

Nowel - Yes I am moving my stock lift pump to the back for now. I may do something bigger later, but that is what I am going to do for now. I know the stock lift pump is weak and tends to fail but I really don't need the headache of a different pump right now. I am trying to get the fuel system done so I can do a different turbo and then bigger injectors and see what the lift pump pressures are and then upgrade accordingly.

Do you have any suggestions for a new turbo or injectors?

Relocate fuel pump

I just love it when JR2 replaces his current "go fast stuff" with newer and better. That means I have at least a 50-50 chance of scoring his old stuff for my 98. 5.

JR2's dad

it would be real easy to put on the summit pump after the fact i got all the lines for john, just no inst. yet ,

If i could make the sad faces i would, i am trying, just ask hvac and sutt how busy I have been

sad face sad face... ... ... ... .

thanks B

Brandon - Don't worry about the instructions, I have your cell phone # and your work # :D Besides I will be at work till after the 4th of July... .

Dad - now that you don't have a fifth wheel any more, can I turn your dually into a dragster??

Jack in Alaska--I don't know why ya just don't go and take what ya need off of JR2's truck--we're gonna help him upgrade it sooner than he thinks and you'll only be helping him out with the removal of that old stuff:D ..... chris

Thanks alot, Dad is the only one who knows where the spare key is hidden on the truck. I think Dad has dreams of my 275 injectors and my EZ. Little does he know that soon after that he will need a clutch and ... ... ... ... ... ...
