the dealer is correct, in 1998, your lift pump was not covered under the 100K warrantee. you will see others say "yes it is" but there not driving 98's. In later years Dodge discovererd that a bad lift pump will distroy the injection pump (which IS covered for 100K miles) so they decided they should cover the lift pump that long.
In 1998, your lift pump is covered under the 80K (5 year I think) HD emissions warrantee. With your owners manual came a little book that talks about warrantee, the answer is in there.
Some dealers have switched pumps on 98. 5's on trucks over 80K, but they "ate" the job as a "good will gesture".
Check the book, see what the time is on the HD emissions warrantee, then go show that to the dealer if its still covered, they should know the answer, but if you ask them "is the lift pump covered under the 100k warrantee?" they will say "NO"
If your over your time, Don't buy one from the Stealer. Cummins will sell you one for around $160. 00. Check other threads on how to install it, etc, etc.

First off TDR is great. I've been learning so much here. Here's the thing: Installed gauges, Boost, Egt & Fuel Pressure. I have a '98. 5 w / 53 k. Been seeing 12 lb at idle and at 70 mph whe empty and on it I can pull it down to the magic 8 lb. Well the other morning I had 5lb at idle and 0 to 1 lb while on it a little (empty). Went to STEALER and was told lift pump is not covered under 5 yr. 100k warranty. From what I've read this can't be so. Also just changed out fuel filter & opened up the banjos & replaced washers from Geno's. What can I do about this non-warrantied lift pump. Thanks.
