I was wondering if the only place to buy a lift pump is thru the dealer? I think mine is bad or going bad. I can drive the truck and it runs great unless I let it idle for a couple minutes like when in town and I stop for traffic lights. If I stop and idle like that the truck is sick until I reach 2100 rpm or so thru all gears. If I drive none stop for a few miles it seems to do okay again from a stop sign where I don't have to idle long. Anyone have anything like this before? I have a VA box boost fooler and I think stage 1 injectors, K&N 3. 5 exhaust.

Check your codes by flipping the key from off to on three times. Typically you'll never notice a bad LP without a gauge or after damage is done to the VP44. You may have a sensor or something out of spec.

Report back with codes if any-and put some gauges on that thing.

I had auto zone use their scanner to check for codes and nothing showed up??? Are the codes stored in the computer or do they go away when the engine is stopped only coming back if condition still exists?

Codes clear themselves after so many start/run cycles. I dunno how many.

I'd trust the self-reporting ECM over the parts boys getting all the parameters correct.

If I understand correctly the 99 doesn't have the option to show codes like the others do with the switch on and off 3 times. I tried it and didn't see anything.

Could use some advice on this one.

To purchase a lift pump. . check the Classified. . I purshased a new LP from a TDR member a few weeks ago... Best price I have seen...

Sounds like you need to make up a FP gauge. . or purchse one. . and drive around with it taped to you window for a while. . haha. . I check a truck a few weeks ago. . and it was pulling a vaccum. . the LP wasn't working at all... It killed the VP pump because he kept driving it... Warrenty fixed both... .

Good Luck

Bryan
