Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift Pump Or VP-44?

Hey Guys,



My grandfather is experiancing a loss of power in his 02 6 spd. Is this the dreaded LP or the Injection pump? Is it something else?



Please give any tips to trouble shoot or tell the differance as I know very little about the 24V. Thanks.

Check the codes on the truck to see what you are getting. To check the codes to the following:



1. Turn the key to the on position (without starting the engine), then turn it off.

2. Turn the key to the on position (without starting the engine), then turn it off.

3. Turn the key to the on position (without starting the engine), then leave it the on position



4. Look at the odometer, and the ECM with give you code numbers.



Wait until it is completely finished - may take 1 min. Write down all the codes you see. I just did this on my truck and found 0500, 1693, 0216. The 0216 is an injection pump timing failure and that is the reason I am going to the dealer tomorrow (still under warranty). Let me know how you make out.
