Can anyone tell me what tells the lift pump when and how long to run? Is it the ECM? Mine is acting up and after replacing the lift pump and checking the connections and the plug it seems that what ever is controlling it is at fault. Instead of cycling when you bump the starter it will run for 3 short bursts. It will do this all day long but that is it.

Thanks,

Keith

Yes, it is controlled by the ECM. It operates in two modes, engine cranking and engine running, should be about 7# cranking and minimum of 10# with engine running. bg

when I bump my starter, it usually goes up to about 13 or 14 psi. I never had to crank my engine long enough to get a pressure reading, so I have no idea what the pressure is suppose to be. I always thought that the pump was either running or not - same pressure. My pump is just about shot, so the FASS is going in this weekend :)
