Lift pump pressure gauge

Hi guys---I have just started bombing my 99 and after hearing about all the lift pump failures I decided to install a presure gaugein the line. I have called some of the parts dealers and no one seems to have a kit. Geno's will have one about May 15 but I would like one sooner if I can get it. There are a few mechanical gauges out there but I wanted a gauge with an electric sender. Thanks in advance

Westach has several. One includes a high intensity LED that comes on at a user set level. That can also be used to run a buzzer or relay.

I looked in their catalog, about $50 for a guage w/o the LED/relay 0-16, 0-30 or 0-80 psi. $80 for a 0-16 or 0-80 w/LED/relay. Sender for either type is $50.

Sewart Warner and Autometer both have electronic guages in the 0-15 psi range,kinda spendy though. In the $250 range. It still beats having a fuel line in the cab that could possibly leak!

I just installed a Steward Warner 0-16 psi electric gauge in my 2001. 5 3500. I purchased one gauge, and two senders delivered to the door for less than 100. 00. I did make the mistake of not looking at my fuel filter housing, I thought they were the same as the early 24 valvers. I do have 11 psi at idle and cruise with it no going below 9 psi pulling the trailer. The truck is still stock at this time. I'm monitoring the outlet pressure right now. The sender on the inlet side went TU on me last week. Before it went bad I was seeing 10 psi at idle, steady 7-8 cruising and a low of between 4-5 psi at WOT. On the outlet side I have seen a high between 9-10 psi at idle, 8 psi cruising and a low of 3 at WOT. Cruising over 70 mph I get a pretty steady 7 psi. I haven't towed the trailer yet, but will get to see numbers next weekend.

pnw , the test port is on the inlet side of the fuel filter , on the side towards the firewall at the top , its a schrader valve and you need a special adaptor , its got a black plastic cap on it , same type on the inlet to the injection pump .

You can use a 0-15PSI mechanical fuel pressure gauge from Auto Meter. There is no danger becuse it uses an Isolator that mounts in the engine compartment. They are super accurate and use no electricity (Except for the light bulb). Check out www.summitracing.com . The part number for the "Sport Comp" series gauge that will fit in the "A" pillar pod is: ATM-3313. The price from Summit is $99. 95. They also make it in the "Ultra-lite" series and they make them in 2 different sizes also. CALL Summit for details. Alot of the stuff you want is not listed on there website, you have to ask.

Where on the 2000 can I hook up a pressure tester? Is there a test port somewhere after the lift pump? Please tell me it's fairly easy to get to, as well.
