OK, Let's start from the beginning... I suspected the lift pump on my truck was not healthy. I finally got around to getting my mechanical gauge on it the other day... reading @ idle: 0.

So, I figured I hooked something up wrong. Tried again with less tubing, still no reading. So I called the *friendly* Dodge dealer to get an appointment... . for tomorrow... I go out to the truck tonight, and it won't start. In fact, the lift pump doesn't even kick on after bumping the starter.

So: Could I have done something wrong when trying to hook up the gauge? (Read: vapor lock or something like it?

Is there a way to prime the system any to at least limp it to the dealer?

Am I S. O. L?

Thoughts?

Thanks,

TMC

Where did u hook your guage up to? The bottom of the filter? or at the injection pump.

I hooked mine up to the bottom of the filter and it wouldnt start. I bumped the starter to start the lift pump several tymes to bleed the air. But still no luck. The only thing that worked was pumping the throttle while trying to start it. This is on a 01 eth.

Hope that helps. If you cant get your lift pump to pump with bumping the starter... . then its probally dead.

Sounds like a bad lift pump. To get the filter to prime you turn the key to on, then just "bump" or "tap" the starter and the pump should run, on my 98. 5 it runs for about 30 seconds or so.

The place you did the test is ok, On the later trucks I don't think they have the test points like we do on the 98. 5's.

Hope it starts for you. The worse part is after you get it to the dealer, they will have to "prove' the pump is bad, then they will ORDER one for you!

Off to the dealer....

Well, we'll have to wait and see now. I couldn't get it it going so I had to get it towed.

The insurance will cover the towing, and hopefully the pump will be covered under warrenty.

Maybe I'll have a powerful truck finally! ;)
