 Hate to bother you guys because I know this stuff gets asked often. Whats the best technique to get to the lift pump? Do I really have to take the starter off. Am I really going to get that much fuel all over it? The master cylinder sure seems in the way. Would like to attack the job and get it done instead of stabbing at it. Seriously, 30 minutes?

no need to remove the starter. its a bit of a pain to get to but you can swap it out in 10 minutes. in my rig i cut the wheel well a bit and can access it pretty easy. a little spilt fuel never hurt nobody.

Everytime I have done it before relocating the pump back by the fuel tank I did it from above. Just climb up on the engine and lay down reach down and do it. Last time was actually less than 30 minutes. No need to cut anything or remove the starter. You could make it easier by removing the fuel filter housing but really not necessary. Hope this helps.

2 10mm head bolts hold the filter housing to the intake, take it off, makes it a lot easier, especially if you got big hands like I do! Never understood why some guys take the starter off, those are some of the tightest bolts on the planet!!!:D

Get to it like Supermod said. Two bolts, lay the filter on the fenderwell, and you've got all the room you need.

Thanks for the help. Ordered pump from Cummins and had to take the fuel filter housing off to find the serial #. Gee, two bolts I feel kind of dumb. The Vulcan big line kit looks interesting. Is it just called the relocation kit? Probably going to get a fuel pressure gauge also and how hard is it to install that? Also taking the dash apart (Top) without snaping it in half? Bear with me.

Well its not really necesary to remove the dash to get to the lift pump... ...

The bezel comes off easy- a screw under the power outlet cover and just snaps off. The entire rest of the dash is on a "hinge", and rolls out onto the seats with the steering colum lowered/removed.

The vulcan kit is great for me. Fuel pressure dont drop hardly at all anymore under load.

I meant for the fuel pressure gauge :-laf I also want to get EGT and transmission temp gauges. Any recommendations would be cool. Thanks again!
