I recently ordered a FASS DDRP to replace the stock lift pump. In anticipation of delivery, I've been spraying the pump mounting hardware with penetraing fluid to hopefully make this easier when the new pump arrives. Today, in trying to get at the nuts I may have screwed up the electrical connection for the pump because after a 10 minute drive to my daughter's house I looked at the pressure guage and noticed the arrow on "0". Sure enough the lift pump wasn't running. I got under the hood and messed around with the connector and I got the pump going again. If the truck was run for 10 minutes w/o the lift pump working could I have damaged the VP44? I ran it back home and it seemed to be fine with the fuel pressure at a hair over the 10# line. Secondly, when the new pump does arrive how in the hell do you get at pump with hardly enough room to get your hands in there. I've read reports where folks have changed these things in 30 minutes but I think it'll take that long just to figure out how to attack the old pump.

Do it from the top. Get a step stool and go in from the front, kinda laying on the valve cover. You need to crack the in and out line first, then the 3 nuts on the top of the plate, unplug the connector and it's out.

You can remove the 2 bolts in the fuel filter and move it out of the way, after removing the hard lines.
This would be a good time to move the new pump to the frame rail, beside the fuel tank. And upgrade the lines to this.
Vulcan compound turbo components, FireBall injectors, DrawStraw™, Big Line Kits, VP silicone boot kits, gauge installation components, metric adapters & fittings, FASS, Quadzilla, Edge,AirDog, DTT Trans, ISSPRO, HTT Turbo, AFE, Veg pumps,  brackets,
They have all the fittings and you can use a big line from the filter to the vp.....
If you drove it easy, you may have dodged hurting the vp... ... ...
