My lift pump was going south (slight stumble at 2000 rpms). So the stealer replaced the lift pump and map sensor.

Question, when I look over their work (after I got home). I look under the hood and they forgot to plug in the sensors for the fuel filter (water and heater). But what has me baffled is a 5 or 6 pin plug near the fire wall (right behind the lift pump) was not pluged in and I can't find where it goes (it looks like its some sort of port, because its look like it has a cap on it)? Is their some place this plug into or should I just leave it (I DON'T TRUST THIS DEALER).

Please help.

Frank

Thanks!

They must be trying to find anything to void my warrantee. DON'T EVER BUY OR USE CASTLE MOTORS in Castle Rock Colorado.

Just me . 02 worth... . But they don't know what their doing.

Is their a good dealership in the Denver area?

Not another

Sounds like freedom of speech on the internet, I guess you get what you deserve. I was told we are not allowed to express our opinions of our dealers on the internet. I think people can make up there own minds where to do business, not by the poor results of others (Crown)... ... . :D :D :D :D

Wish I knew of a good service dept in these parts. Since I have a 2002 on order guess I will eventually find out who is good and who to avoid. So far this is what I have heard from fellow Denver area TDR members. Castle Rock used to be good, now it's not (think it has new ownership or something). I have heard mixed reports about Christopher Dodge World. I heard Northglenn Dodge was good, then service managers changed so that was all she wrote... . appearently that service manager is now at Johnson Auto Plaza in Brighton and took all his BS from Northglenn with him to Johnson's. So maybe NorthGlenn is "good" again. Johnson Auto Plaza used to be good until the before mentioned service manager from Northglenn started working there. I had heard Prestige Dodge in Longmont has a good service dept. Was up there 2 wks ago to possible buy a truck from them (sales dept rips:mad: , I have a whole other post on that ordeal... ended up going back to Johnson Auto Plaza, where the sales dept treated me a lot better, did not jerk my chain and was NOT into high pressure sales) I talked to the service dept desk guy at Prestige. He and the others raved about their hot-shot diesel tech that all other service depts want. I asked about the lift-pump failures on the 24V and was told they where unaware of any problems with lift pumps in 24V trucks, first they heard about it. Like-wise I asked about the infamous 5th gear nut failures on the 5 sps and got the same response. Make your own opinions, but I have concerns about their comptetence with answers like this (then again this was coming from the guy behind the counter and not the mechanics/techs). I have heard AVOID CHERRY CREEK DODGE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! for sales and service work. I talked to a guy who had his truck in Broadway Dodge for over 2wks battling over warranty coverage issues. The guy had purchased a '98 2500 gasser used from them within the past year. Coming home from a company x-mas party (his wife & my fiancee work together) his front differential locked-up while driving down the interstate in 4-high. I was unclear as to what exactly happened since he was not totally sure, but whatever happened destroyed the front axle, transfer-case and transmission. He went thru a big hassle with Broadway Dodge over this, the parts they where willing to replace initailly where going to be re-conditioned or salvaged parts and not new OEM. I think the factory 3/36 warranty had expired and he had purchased some type of extended warranty from Broadway when he purchased the truck (don't know if it was factory or independent company) Anyway after 2 or 3 wks with his truck sitting at Broadway Dodge and much :-{} He got a new front axle, T-case and transmission from Dodge. He was NOT very happy with his experience there.

Sorry for the long post, but thought I'd share all I know about Dodge service depts around here. Hopefully others will chime in a give more feed back, since I too would like to know who has a decent service dept. Guess I will start with the place I'm buying from (Johnson Auto Plaza) and go from there. Have some recalls for my '95, maybe I will use the recall work as a way to measure their competence before I let them lay a hand on my new truck;)

I think the best way to find a good service dealership is to check and see if they sell and install mods on their new trucks. There are many out there that do and will go ahead and do warranty work even though you have mods of some sort.

I had to stop at a dealership in Cottage Grove, OR on a recent cross country trip and really got stung by them.

Ihad all indication the turbo boost hose has come loose and since it was pouring rain I pulled into the dealer to have them replace the hose.

An hour later the service manager came out and said my lift pump was bad. I had not removed my VA box and told him about it. He said: "We can work around that. " A few minutes later he came out and said Chrysler had voided my warranty because of extensive modifications. (VA Box, 14 MM turbo housing and 4" exhaust and exhaust brake) I asked them how Chrysler knew about the modes and he replied he had to tell them.

I ended up paying $600. 00 to replace the pump, got back on the freeway and the same problem. Went back and had to wait until the next morning. They had it for an hour and came back out and said due to the extensive modifications they were unable to troubleshoot the problem and referred me to Cummin's NW back in Eugene, OR. At first they said it was the turbo, but a different mechanic looked at it the follwing Monday (I had to spend the weekend in Cummin's parking lot) and found a pack rat had built a nest in the air filter and the exhaust brake was sticking partially shut.

An additional $300. 00 for their time and filter and I was back under way. What ever you do, don't deal with the Dodge dealer in Cottage Grove, OR. They call theselves a 5 star dealership. I call them a 5 turkey dealership. They are less than truthfull to say the least.

I had my lift pump replaced under warranty about two weeks ago. I took the truck in and showed the service manager my readings on my fuel pressure guage. He told me the tech would have to check it out and verify it before they could proceed. Well, a few hours later the tech calls me and asks me when the last time I changed the fuel filter was. I replied, "How can the fuel filter have anything to do with the low pressure readings, I have the guage reading pre filter pressure. " He kinda mumbled something and said he was supposed to ask. I said well if you must know I changed it 3,000 miles ago and I already checked it and it is just as clean as the day I installed it. He said he would put the new pump on right away. Sometimes I think we know more than these so called "DC diesel techs"

All About a Lift Pump, and don't come back

I have 31,000 on a 2001 CTD Quad cab 4x4. I also have what I consider to be a significant problem with the dealer I purchased it from. The assistant service manager has requested I never return to HW Hunter Dodge, Lancaster Calif. , warranty notwithstanding. This due to inauspicious feedback to DC via customer satisfaction questionnaire. Example, the Daimler Chrysler manual provided with the new vehicle has recommended periodic maintenance or service intervals. It has been my practice to ask the service writer if any other maintenance is recommended for the indicated mileage. Experience (TDR) has taught me to research this question before visiting Hunter Dodge so at least one of us actually knows what preventative maintenance is recommended. The service writers simply do not have the knowledge, or more importantly the desire to get it right. The service writers are quick however, to rescind or threaten cancellation of the factory warranty. Understanding every case is unique; in my experience the truck usually has to be returned for completion of maintenance and clean up. Generally the service department staff that has contact with the public is very condescending and apathetic. The façade is well polished, as you would expect, but there is little substance to all this eyewash. Three notes are worthy of mention.

One. I have met the service manager on only one occasion. Following an oil change I was laying under my truck, still parked in the service drive. Other customers observing me cleaning my engine, undercarriage and compartment of residual oil provoked him to offer assistance.

Two. Never ever allow an uninformed unsuspecting spouse to take any vehicle in for maintenance.

Three. The shop foreman, I believe his name is Kurt, is helpful and knowledgeable. As you might expect the foreman is extremely busy.

I guess if we are going to beat the stealers into the ground, we should also tell the good stories in fairness. Weekend before last I broke my throttle cable. On Monday I went into my closest dealer, Gresham Dodge and purchased the 970 recall kit ($21, a relative deal). When I went out into the service area to see if I could get a set of install instructions, the service manager became upset when he found out that they had sold me the recall kit. Supposedly, they are not supposed to sell it. After going back and forth, he offered to have my truck towed into the dealership, their cost. I offered to install just the cable, and he said he would have the recall finished anytime the next day. I did, and they had it finished in 30 minutes. No hassle, good service, both sides happy, and they didn't even enter my BHAF into the computer!
