Man, I am an idiot. Just got off the phone with a Holley tech and Tommy you are correct, this pump can be used on a multi port fuel system or a throttle body system and can be REGULATED down to 15PSI. They have deadheaded this pump and seen 90 PSI. I wonder how many pieces my fuel filter is in?

Anyway, where should the regulator be placed? Is there anyone using a regulator? Need some help here guys. Gordon.

Placement of regulator

Gordon, I took the plug out of the top of the filter housing on the prefilter side. I placed my by-pass equiped regulator in a line connected to this with the bypass port teed into the return line. I have experienced no problems with this set-up. Someone else posted that they ran a seperate return line back to the vent hose on the fuel fill spout.

I used the Summitt 4601Hp and have the system set up showing 10 lbs of pressure on the VP44 side of the "clean filter". Once I had the pressure drop to 8 lbs, the rest of the time it stays at 9 or 10.

Hope that helps.

That guy running a separate line is me---I'm using a mongo Aeromotive pump and running it thru a Racor filter and then into an Aeromotive regulator, as the Mallory regulator couldn't hold the pressure----then one leg to the VP44 and the separate return back to the vent line of the tank fill---I may change it to dump back into the tank via the original supply line since I'm gravity fed--been working great for 9 mos--chris

Steve, How long have you been running the 4601? Isn't that pump rated at 15psi? Why did you feel it was necessary to use a regulator? Just curious.

Tom
