I was coming from a 70mph parkway onto a lower speed area and the truck jump three times and fell dead. Threw a P0628.

I called my guy at Dodge and one of their techs said to let it cool and then tap it a few times. It worked. I started it and drove it another half hour.

I tried to make it toward home (a little over 100 miles) knowing I was on borrowed time.

I ended up having the truck towed in and it's at my mothers.

Does this thing have a lift pump relay? Nothing under the hood identifies any relay as such. Is it a cut and dry lift pump failure?

I'm prepared to go aftermarket but not if it's a simple failure.

I also noticed that after it shut down permanently, I had a puddle under the drain line from the fuel filter. It hadn't been leaking before. I think maybe I hit it with the beer bottle I tapped the lift pump with.

Funny thing is I had commented on the almost 21mpg I was getting. then it dies within ten minutes.

Thanks,

(Worn out) Kyle

There is no lift pump relay. Instead, the pump is controlled directly by the ECM.

If the pump quit, it's time for a new one. But I can't explain why it was leaking from the drain line.

swapped a pump from a donor truck until my GDP parts arive.

Not that i've messed with everything, I have a chime when I first pull out, and sometimes when I hit a bump at low speed.

Could it be the WIF?

Could be WIF, or lamp out. Could also be a glitch - the 03s had a bug in the software that caused an intermittent "ding" and accompanying "check gauges" flash.

It's got me because it's either a result of being towed or where I messed with connections during the pump swap. I'll mess with it tomorrow. Got another fish in the pan right now.
