Checked my warranty book and the 5 year 100K mile covers the fuel injection system (does not mention the lift pump) The 7 year 70K mile emission warranty mentions the fuel pump being covered. I have the 5 year 100K mile DC service contract and it covers the fuel pump but I don't want to use it because it costs me $50. 00 each time I use it. I have 42K on my 2000 CTD. When you guys have the dealer replace your lift pump is the dealer covering it under the engine warranty 5 year 100K miles or under the emmison warranty 7 year 70K miles? Is there any infomation anyone could post that will point the dealer in the right direction?

Thanks

Yes, its coverd under the engine warranty. I just got mine replaced yesterday with 59k and no extended Warranty.

Its covered and should be NO problem, if the dealer is knowledgable. I had mine replaced by a dealership I never saw before with 96+ K and 978 miles from home and the dealer told me, before I said a word that it was covered by the 100K warranty. Point your dealer to Lochmandy Motors in Elkhart, IN.

I use a good dealer that knows diesel trucks, but the service manager had to research this when mine went out recently, but did cover it. It comes on the Cummins engine therefore is covered. I have read my book backwards and forwards and am not convinced that it is covered under the 100k emissions warranty. The book includes it under the California diesels but leaves it out of the list of non-california emissions warranty. I would also like to have some hard evidence that it is included in the 100k emissions warranty for the next time it goes out.

I also asked the service mgr. about installing a 2nd lift pump back by the tank to assist the main pump, which is too far away from the tank, but he said that it would void my warranty and that DMC would not cover a lift pump failure with it on.

OK, I have a 98. 5, my Injection pump is covered for 10yr, 100,000 miles, but he lift pump was covered under the HD emissions warrantee which in my case was 8yr, 80K. I had the first one replaced at 79,900 miles.

But every year is different. I agree since it came on the engine from cummins is should be covered by the 100K warrantee.

Now my VW TDI has a 100,000 mile warrantee on the drivetrain, but that don't cover the turbo, it was only covered for 3yr, 36K miles (not that I needed a turbo, just was checking one day), so you see every company does things different.

The TDI has a problem with the EGR and the PCV system mixing and causing this crud to block the intake, but they will not cover it under the 100K warrantee (which is a crock of I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER if you ask me, because every one of them does it, and they say "its normal maintaince").

Pit Bull...

Emissions warranty??? Engine warranty??? Who knows... ... But with a 2000 truck, and less than 100,000 miles, it will be covered under warranty, and you shouldn't have to pay a dime for it... :D
