I believe it covered under the 7/70 with the $100 deductible if it's after the 3/36 mark. If under 3/36 then it should be no charge.

Read in your owners manual warrantee section. in 98 I think it was covered under the HD emissions warrantee, but in 99 it was covered in a different warrantee.

They installed the conversion kit in the gas tank

100% cost of the part, parts itself including deductiable or 100% totally meaning you did not have to pay a deductiable.

Mine left me stranded with a load of horses at 5AM on Tuesday morning coming from Mo headed to Va. . The conversion kit won't be here until Monday  At 93,000 miles it won't cost me a dime ... ... ... . well except for the last 12 miles of the tow. AAA Plus gets me 100 miles, it was 112 miles. I guess I was pretty lucky to have it go while coming through that close to home.

I finished the trip to Va and on to Ga before coming back to Oh in my '99 dually that I sold to a friend and borrowed back to make the trip. I miss NOTHING about that truck!

Then its under the 100k engine/fuel system warranty... .

Fuel system warranty?... I'll have to re- read the owner's manual (do not recall this coverage. )

I understood the LP to be covered under the Cummins 5/100K (hence the location of it not where Cummins would like it. )

If one were to fail on an '05 (as located factory in the tank) is it covered for 5/100 (i. e. not under the Cummins coverage?)

Nothing to do with emmisions. Its under the 7/100 engine/fuel system warranty and NO deductable. The 7/70 POWERTRAIN carries the deductable. THEY have a policy and procedures book(USED IT MANY TIMES)that lists BY MODEL AND YEAR the warrantys and deductables on systems and areas. I used THAT book weekly if NOT daily IF I wasn't sure of warranty coverage, deductables, emmisions etc.

I know this is kinda of late, but the lift pump on my 04 with only 48k left me stranded last Saturday, Dec 3rd. The Dealer made me pay the $100 deduc for the retro-kit that placed the pump in the tank. Why did I have to pay?

Because the DEALER or whomever dosen't know their policys and proceeduresThey have a BOOK with it all listed but FAIL to read it. Call THEM or D. C. 1-800-992-1997 with invoice numbers etc and ask for YOUR money back.

Good News! I just saved abunch of money by switching to? At first, the dealer who replaced the lift pump, charged me a $100 deductible-BS! It clearly states in the warranty info that the pump should clearly be paid for by the mfg. I called DC this morning and gave me some BS info. I was P*ss*D! Then I made a call to the dealer that I bought the truck from;Very good service w/ excellent PR . They claimed that the pump was under the standard warr. Then I made yet another call to the folks who repaired my truck to P*ss n Bi*tch about it. We'll, four hours later, they decided that there was a glitch in their computer system and that I would recieve a check in the mail for deductible.

Perfect timing. I'm driving right past my dealer tomorrow. Looks like I might be getting my $100 back.

They said that there was no deduct if you're under the 5/100K warranty but when they changed to the 7/100K there is a deduct. I didn't know enough about the topic to argue so I dropped it. Time to go read my info packet.

Edit: This is copied straight out of my "Warranty info" book.

Page 11--Section 2. 3

B. What's Covered

---In vehicles equipped with a Cummins Diesel Engine, ONLY the following parts and components are covered by the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty:

cylinder block and all internal parts

cylinder head assemblies

core plugs

fuel injection pump and injectors

gaskets and seals for listed components

intake and exhaust manifold

oil pan

oil pump

timing gear drive belts and/or chains and cover

turbocharger housing and internal parts

valve covers

water pump and housing

A $100 deductible per repair visit applies after your truck has been in use for 5 years, regardless of mileage.

End Quote.

Note it doesn't say anything about the lift pump, only injector pump. So I continued on to page 27 where is says...

B. Parts Covered for 5 Years or 100,000 Miles

Diesel equipped heavy duty trucks, as described in 5. 3(A), have a separate diesel engine Emission Warranty which covers the following items for 5 years or 100,000 miles. These limits are counted from the time when your Basic Limited Warranty begins under 2. 1 (E). The covered parts are:

exhaust manifold

fuel injection system

injector

intake manifold, and

turbocharger

So, is the LP part of the "fuel injection system"? No deduct on these parts.

Anybody else go read their book and find anything else that might help? I kinda sped thru it and may have missed something

I guess they already gave me my money back and didn't know it. I now have a $135 credit... the extra $35 was already there. Someone caught the mistake and corrected it.

So now I have three consecutive posts with absolutely no purpose. :-laf :-laf :-laf
